Adaptive Summer Camp Counselor Salt Lake County Parks & Recreation - 3.4 Midvale, UT Job Details Temporary | Part-time | Full-time $14 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Flexible schedule Qualifications Assisting with ADLs Direct support Safe environment creation Patient personal care assistance Entry level Full Job Description The position is a counselor for our adaptive summer camp program. It is an adaptive summer camp for youth ages 6-22 with various intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are looking for qualified counselors to join our team for the upcoming summer. The ideal candidate for this position is a team player who is enthusiastic and loves working with individuals with disabilities. Adaptive Camp Counselors create fun and engaging activities that help teach important skills and provide guidance in the areas of responsibility, social development and personal growth. Our camp counselors enjoy a variety of activities throughout the summer, including hiking, swimming and arts and crafts.
Responsibilities:
o Work under the direction of a camp director to lead individuals with disabilities in activities. o Gather information about the preferences and personalities of participants to ensure everyone has a memorable experience. o Help participants develop interpersonal skills, coordinate group activities and games, encourage positive relationships and assist with personal care. o Maintain a relationship with the camp director and other staff members to ensure that camp goals are achieved. o Assist participants in following rules, staying on schedule, and maintaining a safe environment at camp.
Pay:
$14.00 per hour
