About This Role:
The Wellness & Fitness Coordinator is a vital member of our Community-Based Services Team, supporting a wide range of programs and services designed to enhance the lives of older adults in the Prince William Area. This position requires a strong foundation in recreation, health promotion, or related fields, along with the subject-matter knowledge needed to deliver high-quality, impactful programming. In this role, you will help implement both established and newly developed socialization/recreation, health and wellness programs, ensuring they meet the diverse needs of our community. You will coordinate operations across multiple facilities, support virtual and remote program delivery, and work closely with staff, vendors, and community partners to create seamless and enriching participant experiences. Responsibilities also include assisting with marketing and promotions, supervising volunteers, and processing various administrative and program-related transactions. Typical Duties The Health and Wellness Coordinator will perform a variety of important responsibilities to support high-quality recreation and wellness services for older adults. Duties may include, but are not limited to: Planning, developing, and implementing socialization, wellness and physical fitness programs; evaluating program effectiveness; and recommending improvements to enhance participant experience and outcomes, to include program policy and budgeting. Ensuring adequate class coverage for all ongoing programs; assisting staff and volunteers with class scheduling and rentals; and serving as a substitute instructor when needed. Developing, preparing, and distributing marketing materials and program communications; recruiting and coordinating volunteers; and identifying partnership opportunities with local businesses and community organizations. Responding to inquiries regarding programs; enrolling new participants; and collecting applicable program or fitness fees. Maintaining records and reports related to programming, facility usage, and equipment maintenance. Performing other duties of a similar nature as assigned to support the overall mission of the senior centers and Agency on Aging.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or G.E.D. and 4 years of experience that demonstrates your ability to plan, coordinate, and support programs for older adults
Preferences:
A successful candidate will have experience planning and implementing activities and programs for older adults. They will work effectively with internal staff, volunteers, older adults in the senior centers, as well as the community, their families, and community partners. A successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to research and develop new, innovative programs aimed at our target population. This candidate will also have strong communication skills, problem-solving & adaptability, adhere to policies and procedures, and maintain compliance with program guidelines.

Strong organizational skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written, to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders Ability to work with staff and volunteers Knowledge of the key recreation domains Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to demonstrate exceptional customer service Ability to handle confidential information with discretion Bachelor's degree or higher in Recreation 5 years or more of programming recreational activities for older adults Experience coordinating staff or volunteers in a recreational setting
Special Requirements:
Must pass criminal background check Must pass DMV Record check Must possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record Certifications/Trainings required (or must be attained within twelve months) including: APS Mandated Reporter Training CPR & 1 st Aid certification
Peer Place Training Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm; some evenings and weekends may be required
Starting Salary Range :
