Job Description

Summary The Supervisory Recreation Specialist is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating recreational programs, activities, and facilities that promote health, wellness, leisure, and community engagement. This position provides leadership and oversight to recreation staff, manages program budgets, ensures compliance with applicable policies and safety standards, and develops innovative recreational opportunities that meet the needs of diverse populations. Work Schedule
  • Flexible schedule to work primarily on evenings and weekends during sports season
  • 40-hour work week to be scheduled Essential Functions Supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate recreation staff, volunteers, and contractors.
Develop, implement, and oversee recreational programs, events, classes, and special activities. Establish program goals, objectives, and performance measures to ensure quality service delivery. Coordinate facility scheduling, maintenance needs, and operational requirements. Monitor program participation and evaluate effectiveness through data collection and customer feedback. Monitor expenditures and recommend resource allocations. Ensure compliance with organizational policies, safety regulations, and risk management procedures. Develop partnerships with community organizations, schools, and local agencies to enhance recreation offerings. Promote programs through marketing, outreach, and community engagement initiatives. Resolve participant concerns and respond to inquiries regarding recreation services. Prepare reports, presentations, and recommendations for management regarding program performance and future needs. Maintain accurate records related to staffing, attendance, budgeting, and program outcomes. Coordinate emergency response procedures and ensure staff are trained in safety protocols. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of recreation program development, implementation, and evaluation. Knowledge of supervisory principles, employee development, and performance management. Understanding of risk management, safety standards, and applicable regulations. Ability to lead diverse teams and foster a positive work environment. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Proficiency with computer applications, scheduling systems, and reporting tools. Ability to analyze data and make informed recommendations to improve services. Experience managing budgets and overseeing recreation facilities. Experience working with diverse populations, including youth, adults, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. Education
  • Preferred Associate degree or higher in parks and recreation, education or related field Special Requirements and Job Development Valid driver's license. Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications, or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe. Physical Requirements
  • Frequent bending, stooping, standing, walking, and reaching.
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds on occasion.
  • Use of visual and auditory senses.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather.

Pay:
$35,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
