Adaptive Overnight Camp runs between July 26-29. Coordination, planning, and training starts in Spring 2026 to prepare for camp.Location:
Overnight camp is located at Camp Casey in Coupeville, WA on Whidbey Island.Salary:
$225-$235/day The YMCA of Snohomish County is looking for a dynamic camp leader to develop and deliver our first adaptive overnight camp program at YMCA Camp Casey. Join the Casey team and make an impact this summer while being a part of the newest overnight camp in Washington state. This position includes part time pre-season planning and preparation hours and shifts to a full-time daily salary for training and camp days. The Camp Coordinator for the YMCA Camp Casey adaptive overnight camp oversees the daily operations, staff, and programming for campers with physical or developmental disabilities. This role requires ensuring safety, fostering an inclusive environment, adapting typical camp activities to meet diverse needs, and providing leadership to counselors and support staff and volunteers. 2026 Camp Dates for the adaptive overnight camp- July 26 -29, the camp coordinator will be responsible for training the adaptive camp team the week prior to the start of camp. This position begins in the Spring to allow for camp planning and coordination. The planning hours can be conducted remotely,Qualifications & Requirements Experience:
Previous experience working with children or adults with special needs is typically required, often with at least 2-3 seasons of camp leadership experience.Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Therapeutic Recreation, Special Education, or a related field is often preferred.Certifications:
Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications are essential, frequently required to be obtained prior to start of camp. Additional YMCA trainings required to complete prior to beginning of camp.Leadership Qualities:
Demonstrated ability to mentor staff, remain calm under pressure, and work flexibly.Physical Stamina:
Ability to work long hours, sleep in bunkhouse-style accommodation, and be active outdoors in various weather conditions.Common Physical Demands:
Ability to hike on uneven terrain.Ability to lift and move 20-50 pounds regularly.
