Job Description

Recreation Counselor- 34 hours weekly
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The Recreation Counselor has responsibility for planning and facilitating recreational activities for residents and functions as part of a multi-disciplinary team of staff. This individual participates in various group and individual activities with residents and is actively involved in the various staff assignments that establish and maintain the therapeutic milieu on a daily basis.

Ancillary Services Director
DEGREE OF SUPERVISION
The Recreation Counselor meets on a regular basis with the Ancillary Services Director.
POSITIONS SUPERVISED

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum:
Bachelor's degree in recreation, behavioral science or a related field. Agency Affiliated Counselor with the State of Washington. Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred:
Course work in recreational therapy, child/adolescent development, mental health, or related areas. Experience working with children/adolescents in a residential setting. Requires a valid drivers license. Must pass a Washington State background check.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Abides by all Tamarack Center Policies and Procedures. The use of manual restraint and seclusion may be necessary. Must follow all Washington State COVID vaccine requirements.
SCHEDULE
Tuesday through
Saturday:
1:30pm - 8:00pm
Wage Range:
$25.03-34.36 per Hour based off experience. Position receives full benefits at 30hrs a week or more.

Tamarack center is a small (16 bed) residential treatment center for teenagers struggling with a wide variety of psychiatric illnesses, by using a treatment philosophy of connection, support, and structure. Tamarack Center has successfully helped countless teens and families for close to 40 years. Working at
