$16.00 per hour Job description: This a great opportunity for those exploring careers focused on serving people with disabilities. This is also a great opportunity for any college-aged students home for the summer. This is a full time, temporary position for our Summer camp. Must be 18+ and have a valid WI driver's license. Comments from last year's staff. Making the campers smile and watching them have fun made this an awesome summer! It's amazing how big of impact just one client can make on your life! Our staff worked together to make the campers' summer great! I have gained a great sense of community throughout my last few summers with program. The Threshold is looking for energetic individuals to work in our Summer Youth Day Camp Program. Throughout each day, youth are encouraged to learn skills to meet their goals while being active and having fun in this community-based program. This program will start with virtual trainings in April and move to in-person trainings the week before camp begins. Exact dates for our program are pending, but will be mid-June to mid-August. What type of activities are planned? Examples may include visits to YMCA and library, tour of businesses, expending energy at local parks, fishing, bowling, festivals, music and other local events. What are your responsibilities? Staff need to plan and finalize details of activities that could not be scheduled in advance. Staff need to create/coordinate activities for unplanned time (i.e. mornings at the park, inclement weather, etc.). Supervision of assigned participant(s). You will assist youth in building friendships, social connections with their peers, improve communication and safety skills. Provide encouragement and motivation to engage in all the offered activities. Have fun alongside them. Be a good role model.
Skills that are helpful:
Experience working with children in a camp or daycare setting Experience working with persons with disabilities Strong communication skills to effectively interact with campers and parents Ability to manage classroom behavior and foster a positive environment Background in special education or early childhood education Skills in tutoring, sports coaching, or theater can enhance camper engagement
