Position Summary The Camp Counselor [A] position will provide experience and knowledge in the following areas: youth program implementation, student supervision, activity facilitation, and program logistics. Counselors will assist with the implementation of academic workshops, enrichment activities, and daily program operations while helping create a positive and engaging environment for program participants. Under the direct supervision of the Program Director and Lead Counselors, the counselor will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with the Goucher College Summer Enrichment Program staff and participating high school students. This role provides opportunities to develop skills in student engagement, leadership, youth mentorship, and program coordination within a college-based summer enrichment program environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Working with Lead Counselors and Program Staff In collaboration with Lead Counselors, assist in preparing and facilitating daily program activities and student engagement initiatives Assist with student check-in & check-out procedures and daily attendance tracking Support program staff with classroom and workshop setup prior to scheduled sessions Escort and supervise student groups as they transition between program locations across campus Work closely with Lead Counselors and program staff to complete necessary tasks in preparation for daily programming Summer Enrichment Program Work with program staff to support daily program logistics, including schedules, activity coordination, and classroom preparation Supervise students during workshops, campus activities, and transitions between scheduled programming Help maintain a positive and inclusive environment that supports student engagement and participation Assist with special events and enrichment activities scheduled throughout the program Communicate student concerns or issues to Lead Counselors and program leadership as needed Support program staff in maintaining a safe and structured environment for all participants Staff Member Attend staff meetings and program briefings as assigned Participate in staff training sessions prior to the start of the program Assist with program events and activities as needed Perform other program duties Amount of Time Worked Approximately daytime program hours during the two-week program (7:00am-7:30pm)Benefits Remuneration:
$15/hour for up to 8-hour shifts scheduled between 7:00am•11:00pm.Program Dates:
Week 1: Monday, June 15•Thursday, June 18 Week 2: Sunday, June 21•Friday, June 26Timeline:
Completed with the position by end of day June 26, 2026Employment Requirements:
Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of: CJIS Background Check (FBI and Maryland) CPS Background Check Staff will be reimbursed for the fingerprinting fee of $50, which will be added to their final payment. Education and/or Experience Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program or interested in first-year orientation, campus/student event management, leadership development, and student advisement. Currently enrolled in a Master's Program in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Education, Social Work or related fields. In addition, the successful candidate must be dependable and have excellent interpersonal communication skills (written, oral, and electronic). Candidates must demonstrate integrity, initiative, openness, teamwork, and a positive attitude.
