Job Description

Overview A private family in Litchfield, CT, is seeking a professional, energetic, and highly organized Assistant House Manager to support the seamless day-to-day operations of a busy household. This position combines hands-on household support, errand running, and pet care, and works closely with a full-time House Manager and additional staff. The ideal candidate is discreet, proactive, and dependable, with a strong service-oriented mindset and the ability to adapt to evolving household needs. This is a large property with a lot of day-to-day activity. The general schedule consists of 40 hours per week with a minimum of at least two Saturdays per month. Weekdays can be altered to accommodate Saturday coverage. For example, Tuesday through Saturday and Monday through Friday on non-Saturday inclusive weeks. Overall flexibility is essential. This is an excellent opportunity for a polished and service-driven professional seeking a long-term role with a collaborative and well-run household. Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to: Manage household errands, inventory, and light organizational projects Assist with travel preparation, including packing/unpacking and coordination of logistics Support holiday, event, and guest preparation as needed Provide attentive daily care for two large dogs, including feeding, walking, bathing, and coordinating grooming and veterinary appointments Assist with simple meal preparation and service; coordinate with the chef as needed Maintain tidiness of common areas and assist with general household upkeep Greet guests and provide support to the household team as required Qualifications Exceptional organizational and time management skills Proactive and thoughtful Strong interpersonal skills High level of discretion, judgment, and professionalism Emotionally intelligent Ability to pivot and adjust while remaining calm Collaborative and helpful Eye for detail Sevice mindset Requirements Minimum of 3 years' experience in a Family Assistant, Personal Assistant, or similar private household role Excellent, verifiable references Must be able to lift 15 to 50lbs and navigate stairs comfortably Pet-Friendly (comfortable with large dogs) Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Tech-savvy, highly organized, and able to manage tasks independently while collaborating with a team Proficient with Google Workspace and household management apps Salary and Benefits The family is offering $40 to $45/hr commensurate with experience, and a competitive benefits package
