Job Description

Join a kind, compassionate, fun, and dynamic team who loves to share yoga and cooking with children ages 5 - 12! At Bliss Belly Kitchen kids practice breathing and yoga, cook healthy farm to table meals and snacks, and spend time in nature. Our heart and soul is Summer camp. We're in our 11th year of operation and have locations around the Bay Area (Berkeley, Walnut Creek, Orinda, San Jose, Marin). We are launching an After School Program in Berkeley and also offer Holiday camps during the School year. We are seeking an Assistant Kids Camp Manager who will closely work with the CEO and Founder to manage and lead all aspects of our year round programming!
Location :
North Berkeley, 25% travel to other sites during summer (Walnut Creek, Orinda, San Jose, Marin) Responsibilities Be able to instruct children on yoga and meditation techniques Be able to safely instruct children on BBK's knife handling skills and safe cooking techniques Be able to safely walk students from BBK to Live Oak Park (one block away) Communicate with parents as their primary contact about their children's experience Ability to provide customer service to BBK families with frequent, engaging, and informative communication Prepare a monthly snack menu and supervise daily snack Purchase and monitor the following supplies: first aid, arts and crafts, general office supplies Work enthusiastically to support planning and implementation of all aspects of the program Collaborate effectively with colleagues in all aspects of student learning Maintain professional and thoughtful communication with all members of the community Be creative, innovative, flexible, and responsive Maintain and support a climate of mutual respect which encourages students to take healthy risks: asking questions, sharing opinions, and making mistakes necessary to learn ~15% of the position is involved in conducting computer/administrative tasks: Sending out a weekly newsletter, providing outreach for future camps/events/programs, scheduling staff for various event/programs, and making updates to the Bliss Belly Kitchen(BBK) website and registration platform ~10% Assisting in onboarding, training, and evaluating staff. Delivering structured staff evaluations based on a rubric. Meeting with staff to share glows and grows. ~10% of the position is involved in cleaning of some sort: Dishwashing, vacuuming, mopping, wiping tables and counters, laundering rags, and/or taking out the compost and recycling Required Qualifications and Experience 2+ years of experience as a lead instructor in an afterschool program, elementary school, or summer camp Ability to manage a classroom or up to 25 children using attention getters, rules and consequences A love for cooking, yoga and mindfulness College degree or Trade School equivalent Reliable form of transportation Desired Qualifications and Experience Ability to do yoga poses and play active games with campers Strong communication skills with both children and adults Willingness to follow directions, be flexible in a dynamic work environment, and to work in a team. Ok to roll up your sleeves and clean up the kitchen after a cooking demo! Fun talents such as games, storytelling, music, arts and crafts Commitment to providing an education experience that is child-centered, safe, and inclusive Ability to stay calm and keep your sense of humor in a fast-paced environment Confidence and ability to take initiative and support your teammates. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, upbeat, positive, mature attitude and respectful communication approach Willingness and capacity to assume a wide range of responsibilities Interested in learning new skills and engaged in continuous improvement of practice Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, walk, twist and turn, and lift 25 pounds Food Handler Certified (or ability to obtain upon hire) First Aid/CPR Certified (or ability to obtain upon hire)

$62,500.00 per year

Are you willing/able to submit these videos if requested? Share a sentence about your background practicing yoga and breathing and/or your willingness to learn. Staff practice yoga and breath work on a daily basis. Can you do 12 sun salutations? Imagine you are conducting a small group lesson. 2 campers are having a side conversation. How would you handle that? You see a pile of dishes. What will you do? Do you have a car?
