GENERAL MANAGER - DRUNK SHAKESPEARE LOS ANGELES

$85,000/year + 25 paid vacation days + company sponsored health insurance Full-Time | Tuesday - Saturday (evenings required + flexibility during peak periods)
Start Date:
Immediate. Venue operations slated to begin in early September.
THE SHOW
Drunk® Shakespeare is the hit Off-Broadway comedy where five classically trained actors attempt to perform a Shakespearean masterpiece—after one of them takes five shots of whiskey. The result is a boozy, irreverent, and wildly entertaining theatrical experience. Brass Jar Productions is seeking a passionate, creative, and highly organized General Manager to open and lead our venue and productions in Los Angeles. The Drunk® Theatrical Universe now includes multiple iterations of the highly successful show, including Drunk® Dracula, Drunk® Christmas Carol, and Drunk® Pirates.
THE VENUE
Brass Jar Productions is opening a new performance venue in the heart of Hollywood, just steps from the Walk of Fame and a few blocks from the Hollywood Pantages Theatre. The venue will feature two distinct spaces, including the 130-seat mainstage and a smaller cabaret-style space. There is potential to expand beyond existing productions, and the General Manager will play a role in helping to shape the programmatic and operational footprint of this new location. One of the keys to this position is flexibility, and a passion for building the plane in flight.
WHO YOU ARE
You're a charismatic and resourceful leader who has a deep respect for the creative process. You're at ease solving logistical puzzles behind the scenes. You balance an eye for artistry with rock-solid operations. You can juggle solving last-minute venue issues with providing guidance to a large team of direct reports ranging from actors, stage managers, bar managers, bartenders, and servers.
WHAT YOU'LL DOMANAGEMENT & OPERATIONS
Oversee all aspects of venue operations, including front-of-house, bar service, ticketing, and patron experience Manage and schedule a 20+ person team of cast, crew, and venue staff, ensuring full coverage and smooth operations while balancing shifting priorities and multiple personalities to keep production running smoothly day-to-day Act as Manager on Duty (MOD) during operating hours Directly interface with patrons, providing exemplary customer service and ensuring a five-star experience Ensure compliance with safety, alcohol service, and fire/emergency certifications Maintain high production value through leadership, coordination, and attention to detail Handle payroll, cash management, and venue financials in collaboration with company leadership Conduct regular reporting and communicate openly with Producers and the Company Manager according to company policies and standards.
CREATIVE QUALITY CONTROL
Maintain peak performance quality in tandem with your Production Stage Manager/Assistant Manager as dictated by Artistic Leadership Provide thoughtful, actionable creative notes to cast with the support of Artistic team Collaborate with the Director and Creative Team to ensure production consistency Support Artistic team in casting and onboarding of new performers Foster a supportive, high-morale environment for the creative team Support the launch of additional Drunk® concepts
WHAT YOU BRING
5+ years experience in general management, restaurant management, stage management, or company management. Customer service and/or bar management experience. Proven leadership with the ability to coach, inspire, motivate, and build trust Excellent organizational and communication skills Ability to self-manage and juggle multiple priorities Comfort with or ability to learn basic technical theater elements (lights, sound, cues) Experience with theatrical production preferred A cool head and quick instincts in high-pressure situations
COMPENSATION PACKAGE
