General Manager About the Position MacCallum House is seeking an experienced, hands-on Restaurant Manager to lead our Front of House restaurant operations and help deliver an exceptional, consistent guest experience. This position provides visible leadership during restaurant service while maintaining primary responsibility for FOH team performance, scheduling, training, service standards, POS and menu processes, wine and beverage operations, timekeeping, tip reporting, and coordination of weddings and private events. The ideal candidate is an organized and confident hospitality leader who communicates clearly, leads by example, and can balance floor leadership with the administrative and operational responsibilities of the department. Key Responsibilities Lead and oversee FOH restaurant operations during service, providing visible floor leadership during a minimum of five service shifts per week. Maintain consistent hospitality, service, appearance, and workplace standards. Create, publish, and manage the weekly FOH schedule. Participate in interviewing and hiring recommendations. Lead onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management for FOH employees in partnership with the General Manager and HR. Conduct pre-shift meetings and communicate menu changes, service expectations, policies, and operating procedures. Partner with the Executive Chef and General Manager on seasonal food and beverage menu updates. Update, test, and maintain menu programming in Squirrel POS. Support wine and liquor inventory management and beverage-program execution. Respond professionally to guest concerns, special requests, and service-recovery needs. Oversee nightly paperwork, money-handling procedures, tip reporting, and tip-pool documentation. Review FOH timecards, missed punches, attendance, meal-period indicators, and schedule adherence. Submit accurate and approved payroll and tip reports by established deadlines. Monitor FOH labor usage, inventory levels, sanitation practices, and completion of daily operating checklists. Coordinate FOH staffing, floor plans, bar service, timing, and guest experience for weddings, private events, and group dining. Participate in event planning meetings and walk-throughs and provide day-of event leadership as assigned. Maintain clear communication with the General Manager, Executive Chef, Events team, HR, and ownership. Promote a professional, respectful, safe, and compliant workplace. Qualifications At least two years of Front of House restaurant management or supervisory experience. Demonstrated ability to lead, schedule, train, and hold a hospitality team accountable. Strong guest-relations and service-recovery skills. Working knowledge of food, wine, cocktails, and beverage service. Strong administrative, organizational, and follow-through skills. Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced restaurant and event environment. Experience with Squirrel POS, OpenTable, or similar systems preferred. Experience leading a team of 10 or more employees preferred. Food and beverage management experience strongly preferred. Availability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and a flexible schedule. Ability to obtain and maintain food-safety and California Responsible Beverage Service certifications required for the position. Physical and Environmental Requirements The Restaurant Manager must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including: Standing and walking for extended periods during restaurant service. Regular reaching, bending, twisting, and movement throughout the restaurant and event areas. Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 35 pounds. Working in hot, cold, noisy, and fast-paced environments. Communicating effectively with employees and guests in areas with background noise. Frequent handwashing and appropriate use of restaurant cleaning products.
Compensation and Benefits Salary range:
