Job Description

Bad Walter's started as an illegal pop-up in November of 2020 that was shut down in the spring of 2021. We re-opened (legally) in December of 2021 and shut down again in spring of 2023. Now we've been in our first brick-and-mortar shop in Rockridge for about a year and a half and we keep on growing. We've been featured in SF Chronicle, VICE, Eater, and more. All of our ice cream uses real dairy but is lactose-free (it's like we took the Lactaid for you). Our flavors evoke 90s nostalgia—think chunks, swirls, and all of the crazy stuff we loved as kids. We make all our ice cream, mix-ins, and swirls in-house. We're a team of hard-working, passionate people. Our jobs are fast-paced and our team is close-knit. KITCHEN/PRODUCTION MANAGER
We're looking for a seasoned kitchen leader who's looking for a high volume but low pressure environment. You've owned a kitchen's output, you've managed people without creating chaos, and you care deeply about what goes into the food.
The role:
Full production oversight from ingredient ordering to pastry to the finished pint Manage, schedule, and mentor a team of three production assistants and pastry cooks Weekly pastry and production planning Inventory, ordering, receiving, and vendor management Recipe costing, COGS tracking, and smallwares purchasing Quality control in pastry and production CDFA dairy compliance R D collaboration on new flavors, mix ins, and swirls Production coordination across two locations as we open in SF You'll need: 3+ years managing a kitchen, pastry, or production operation ServSafe cert

pasteurizer cert (or willingness to get it — we'll help) Strong opinions about process and even stronger ones about flavor Additional skills in organization, planning, and operations Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and operate heavy production machinery comfortably 40+ hours a week.
