Duties:
Welcome and interact with guests Handle customer complaints and resolve issues Ensure excellent dining experience and service standards Monitor wait times and table flow Manage VIP guests, reservations, and special requests Staff Supervision Supervise servers, hosts, bussers, bartenders, and cashiers Create employee schedules Train new FOH staff Conduct pre-shift meetings Enforce dress code and service standards Coach staff on upselling and hospitality Restaurant Operations Oversee opening and closing procedures Ensure dining room cleanliness and presentation Coordinate with kitchen staff for smooth service Monitor table turnover and seating efficiency Manage reservations and seating charts Financial Responsibilities Handle cash-outs and register reconciliation Monitor labor costs Track sales and service performance Help increase revenue through promotions and upselling Sometimes assist with inventory for bar or FOH supplies Problem Solving Deal with understaffing or call-outs Resolve conflicts between staff members Address service delays or food issues Manage busy rush periods efficiently Compliance & Safety Ensure health and safety standards are followed Check alcohol service compliance Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards Skills Usually Required Leadership Communication Customer service Conflict resolution Multitasking Time management POS system knowledge Team coordination Typical Daily Tasks A FOH manager's day might include: Opening the restaurant Checking reservations Running staff briefing Supervising lunch/dinner service Handling customer concerns Supporting servers during rushes Closing reports and cash reconciliation
