Role Summary The General Manager is responsible for the overall performance of a Chicken Meets Rice restaurant. This includes people leadership, guest experience, food quality, cleanliness, hiring, training, scheduling, financial performance, compliance, and day-to-day execution. The GM sets the tone for the restaurant. They lead from the floor, coach in the moment, hold standards clearly and fairly, and create an environment where team members can do great work. What You'll Do Lead and Develop the Team Hire, train, coach, and retain strong team members and shift leads. Build a positive, accountable, respectful restaurant culture. Give clear feedback and follow up consistently. Develop future leaders by teaching strong habits, standards, and decision-making. Ensure team members understand their roles, expectations, and growth opportunities. Deliver Great Guest Experiences Create a welcoming, friendly, and efficient guest experience every day. Resolve guest concerns with ownership, urgency, and good judgment. Ensure food is served accurately, quickly, and with care. Build regular guest loyalty through consistency and hospitality. Run Excellent Daily Operations Lead smooth opening, rush, transition, and closing periods. Maintain high standards for food quality, portioning, cleanliness, speed, and order accuracy. Ensure the restaurant is clean, organized, stocked, and ready for service. Use checklists, routines, and follow-up to keep standards consistent. Identify problems early and solve them before they become bigger issues. Own Food Safety and Compliance Ensure all food safety, sanitation, labor, meal/rest break, and company policies are followed. Maintain proper documentation, logs, and required records. Create a safe work environment for team members and guests. Coach team members on proper food handling, cleanliness, and safety practices. Manage Sales, Labor, Inventory, and Profitability Understand and manage key restaurant metrics including sales, labor, food cost, waste, productivity, and controllable expenses. Build effective schedules that support the business and the team. Manage ordering, inventory, prep planning, and waste reduction. Take ownership of the restaurant's financial results and look for ways to improve performance. Communicate and Collaborate Communicate clearly with team members, shift leaders, Area Managers, and support team partners. Share wins, issues, staffing needs, maintenance concerns, and operational risks early. Follow through on company initiatives, training, rollouts, and operational updates. Represent Chicken Meets Rice professionally with guests, vendors, inspectors, and the community. What We're Looking For Restaurant management experience, preferably in fast casual, QSR, or high-volume food service. Strong people leadership skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and hold teams accountable. Hands-on operator who is comfortable leading from the floor. Strong understanding of food safety, cleanliness, labor management, and guest service. Ability to read and act on restaurant performance metrics. Calm, organized, and solution-oriented during busy service periods. Clear communicator with strong follow-through. High standards, humility, and a team-first mindset. Availability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds. Ability to work around hot equipment, cold storage, wet floors, and a fast-paced restaurant environment. Ability to bend, reach, twist, and perform hands-on restaurant tasks as needed. What Success Looks Like A successful General Manager at Chicken Meets Rice runs a restaurant that is clean, consistent, well-staffed, guest-focused, financially healthy, and full of team members who know what is expected of them. They protect the food, protect the culture, and make the restaurant better week by week.
