We are seeking a passionate, creative, and experienced Kitchen Manager to lead our kitchen operations, develop our team, and ensure every dish meets our standards of quality and consistency. Position Summary The Kitchen Manager is responsible for overseeing all back-of-house operations, including food preparation, kitchen staff management, inventory control, food safety compliance, and cost management. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to building a strong, positive team culture. The ideal candidate will have enthusiasm around food and excellence, while working with the General Manager to create memorable experiences and creative seasonal menu items. Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Development Recruit, train, mentor, and develop kitchen team members. Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and professionalism. Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and feedback. Oversee daily food preparation and service execution. Ensure all menu items are prepared consistently and meet quality standards. Maintain efficient kitchen operations during all shifts. Collaborate on menu development, recipe updates, and seasonal offerings. Inventory & Cost Management Manage ordering, receiving, and inventory processes. Monitor food costs, portion control, and waste reduction initiatives. Maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers. Conduct regular inventory counts and cost analysis. Food Safety & Sanitation Ensure compliance with all health department regulations and company standards. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment. Enforce proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures. Lead the kitchen team in preparing for health inspections. Qualifications Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation standards. Experience managing inventory, ordering, and food costs. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods. Preferred Qualifications ServSafe Manager Certification (or willingness to obtain). Experience in high-volume restaurants, cafés, or hospitality operations. Culinary training or equivalent experience is a plus. What Blue Nest Offers Competitive pay based on experience.
