General Manager - Full-Service Restaurant Greater Hartford, Connecticut About the Opportunity We are seeking an experienced, hands-on General Manager to lead a high-volume, locally respected restaurant in the Greater Hartford area. This position is ideal for a hospitality leader who thrives on building great teams, delivering exceptional guest experiences, and driving strong financial performance. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of restaurant operations, including staff leadership, guest satisfaction, sales growth, labor management, cost controls, and community engagement. We are looking for someone who leads from the floor, inspires accountability, and creates a culture where both guests and employees want to return. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development Recruit, hire, train, and retain front-of-house and management staff. Create a positive, professional, and accountable workplace culture. Coach and develop team members to maximize performance and career growth. Conduct regular performance evaluations and disciplinary actions when necessary. Maintain staffing levels that support service standards while controlling labor costs. Operations Management Oversee all daily restaurant operations, ensuring exceptional food quality, service, cleanliness, and hospitality. Lead by example during peak service periods and maintain a visible presence on the floor. Ensure all opening, closing, and shift procedures are executed consistently. Monitor guest feedback and implement improvements to enhance the overall dining experience. Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations. Financial Performance Manage labor costs, scheduling, inventory, food costs, beverage costs, and operating expenses. Analyze weekly and monthly financial reports to identify opportunities for growth and improvement. Develop strategies to increase sales, improve profitability, and maximize operational efficiency. Monitor cash handling, deposits, and POS reporting procedures. Guest Experience & Community Engagement Build relationships with regular guests and actively engage with the local community. Handle guest concerns professionally and ensure prompt resolution. Support marketing initiatives, special events, private functions, and local partnerships. Maintain the restaurant's reputation as a premier dining destination in the Greater Hartford market. Food Safety & Compliance Ensure adherence to all food safety, sanitation, and health department standards. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for guests and employees. Oversee inventory management, ordering, receiving, and waste reduction initiatives. Qualifications Required Experience Minimum 1-3 years of successful Manager experience in a full-service restaurant. Proven ability to lead teams of 30+ employees in a high-volume environment. Strong background in labor management, scheduling, employee development, and cost control. Experience managing P&L statements, budgeting, and financial performance metrics. Excellent communication, conflict-resolution, and leadership skills. Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business demands. Preferred Qualifications Experience with craft beer, bar operations, and beverage programs. Familiarity with Toast, Aloha, Micros, or comparable restaurant POS systems. Experience with catering, banquet events, private dining, or entertainment venues. ServSafe Certification or ability to obtain certification upon hire.
