School Food Service Manager 1527 Lincoln Avenue, Panama City, FL 32405 From $40,000 a year - Full-time From $40,000 a year - Full-time The School Food Service Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the school cafeteria and food service program. This position includes food preparation, meal service, inventory management, compliance with health and nutrition regulations, supervision of cafeteria operations, and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment. The School Food Service Manager supports the school's mission by providing nutritious meals in a positive and efficient environment for students and staff. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesFood Service Operations Plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals in accordance with approved menus and nutritional guidelines. Oversee daily cafeteria and kitchen operations. Ensure meals are prepared and served safely, efficiently, and on schedule. Maintain proper food temperatures, storage, and handling procedures. Assist with menu planning and food ordering. Compliance and Safety Ensure compliance with USDA, National School Lunch Program (NSLP), Florida Department of Health, local health department, and school nutrition regulations. Maintain all required food service records, meal counts, production records, and documentation. Follow all sanitation, hygiene, and food safety standards. Prepare for and participate in inspections, reviews, and audits. Inventory and Purchasing Monitor inventory levels of food, supplies, and kitchen equipment. Receive and organize deliveries. Minimize food waste and monitor portion control. Report equipment repair or maintenance needs to administration. Kitchen and Cafeteria Management Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and cafeteria environment. Supervise cafeteria routines and meal service procedures. Support positive interactions with students, staff, and families. Assist with special school events involving food service when needed. Administrative Responsibilities Maintain confidentiality and professionalism. Follow all school policies and procedures. Participate in required trainings and meetings. Qualifications and Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience in food service, cafeteria management, school nutrition, or commercial kitchen operations preferred. Knowledge of National School Lunch Program (NSLP) requirements, meal pattern guidelines, meal counting procedures, and compliance expectations preferred. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to lift and carry food and kitchen supplies. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Required Certifications Valid Food Manager Certification required, in accordance with Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) and local health department requirements. ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification preferred or accepted if state approved. Must maintain all required certifications throughout employment. Physical Requirements Standing for extended periods of time. Bending, lifting, reaching, and carrying supplies. Working in hot kitchen environments. Work Schedule School-year position following the school calendar. Hours may vary based on breakfast/lunch schedules and school activities. Salary and Benefits Salary based on experience and qualifications. Eligible benefits provided in accordance with school policy.
