Job Description
Overview Join our dedicated team as a Shelter Kitchen Manager, where you will lead the culinary operations of a vital community shelter. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact by providing nutritious, safe, and delicious meals to those in need. As a key leader in our shelter, you will oversee daily kitchen activities, manage staff, ensure food safety standards are met, and maintain efficient food service operations. Your energetic leadership will foster a positive environment focused on teamwork, quality, and compassion. Responsibilities Supervise all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and serving to ensure timely and quality meal delivery Manage inventory control by monitoring stock levels, ordering supplies, and minimizing waste through effective food management practices Train and develop kitchen staff on food safety protocols, food handling techniques, and customer service standards to ensure compliance and excellence Coordinate shift management by scheduling staff, assigning tasks, and ensuring smooth daily operations in a fast-paced environment Maintain strict adherence to food safety regulations and sanitation standards to guarantee a safe dining experience for all clients as per government health and food service regulations Lead efforts in budgeting, cost control, and resource allocation to optimize operational efficiency while maintaining high-quality service Support team development through interviewing, onboarding new staff, and providing ongoing training & development opportunities Develop respectful and polite relationships with our clients while maintaining appropriate boundaries and following SFH policies Work well with volunteers and provide support Maintain professional boundaries Pass level 2 background check https://info.flclearinghouse.com Experience Proven management experience within the food service industry, preferably in quick service or fast food restaurant settings Extensive culinary experience with skills in food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen management Demonstrated supervising experience with a focus on team management and staff training & development Background in food safety practices, inventory control, and food production processes Experience working in hospitality environments such as casual dining or hotel kitchens is highly valued Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and manage multiple priorities effectively Join us in this rewarding role where your culinary expertise and leadership will directly contribute to nourishing our community.
