Prepare lunch and dinner meals 4 days a week from 8a-7p 3 days off. Provide oversight of soup kitchen operations at St. Francis while on duty. Ensure compliance with all food handling and regulatory standards and requirements. Ensures proper preparation and presentation of meals.Qualifications, Experience and Abilities:
• As a prerequisite, the successful candidate must believe in the core values and philosophy of St. Augustine Society, Inc. and be driven by the mission of the organization with a commitment to working with persons in housing crisis and disconnected populations • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field, a current Safe Serve Certification, and a Food Safety Management Certification preferred Understand and follow all agency policies and procedures as directed by the Operations Manager and the Policies and Procedures manual. Must be able to communicate effectively with Managers, staff and volunteers Always maintain strict client and staff confidentiality. Represent the agency in a professional manner consistent with the St. Francis House mission. Complete and submit accurate and timely reports to the Director of Programs and Operations as required. Attend meetings as required including all mandatory staff meetings, any necessary emergency meetings, and staff training. Participate in required and elective staff development activities. Participate in the orientation of new employees as requested. Supervise volunteers/community service helpers/clients that are helping in the kitchen Be able to work independently and as part of a team Be physically capable of heavy lifting Maintain professional boundaries Must pass drug screen • Must be prompt and dependable Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide direct supervision of kitchen help to ensure the appropriate food handling requirements are met. Analyze current supplies and plan menus accordingly Oversee and ensure the government health and food service regulations are being adhered to. Prepare and keep any safety reports and government records as required Determine the quality of food and beverages received Establish and maintain system of routine review of work procedures and operations in order to determine ways to improve service, performance, and safety. Ensure that food is prepared and presented in an acceptable manner by monitoring preparation methods and portion sizes. Ensure all equipment is kept clean and in excellent working condition through personal inspection and by following preventive maintenance plans. Responsible for maintaining appropriate cleaning schedules for kitchen floors, mats, walls, hoods and other equipment and food storage areas Check and maintain proper food handling and refrigeration temperature control logs Develop respectful and polite relationships with our clients while maintaining appropriate boundaries and following SFH policies. Purchase food, beverage, or kitchen supplies if required while remaining aware of budgetary concerns. Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to orient and train volunteers that will be working in the kitchen Estimate food supplies and beverage consumption to anticipate amounts that may need to be purchased. Participate in all aspects of meal planning and preparation. Other tasks as assigned by the Director of Programs and Operations.Job Type:
