Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation, and a strong understanding of food safety standards. This role offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, delivering high-quality fried dishes to our valued customers. Prior experience in the food industry, including restaurant or catering settings, is highly preferred. Will be responsible for preparing and cooking dishes—such as fish fillets, shrimp, and fried chicken—using deep-fryers and specialized breading techniques. This role requires speed, precision, and a deep understanding of oil temperatures and food safety to ensure every piece of seafood is crispy, golden, and perfectly cooked.
Core Responsibilities Preparation:
Clean, season, and portion seafood and chicken according to restaurant standards. Apply batters, breading, or seasoned flour to seafood items just before cooking.
Required Skills & Qualifications Experience:
Previous experience as a line cook or fry cook, preferably in a seafood-heavy environment.
Technical Knowledge:
Understanding of different frying oils (peanut, vegetable, etc.) and their smoke points.
Physical Stamina:
Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy containers (up to 50 lbs ) of oil or bulk seafood.
Pace:
Ability to handle high-volume "rushes" while maintaining consistency and accuracy.
Teamwork:
Strong communication skills to coordinate with "window" staff and other line cooks. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Southern-style seafood and chicken frying or specific seafood types (flounder, shrimp, and catfish).
Cooking:
Operate commercial deep-fryers to cook seafood to the correct internal temperature and desired crispness.
Quality Control:
Monitor oil levels and temperatures (typically between 350°F and 375°F ) to prevent oil absorption and ensure even cooking.
Station Management:
Maintain a clean and sanitized workstation. Filter and change fryer oil regularly to maintain flavor quality.
Inventory:
Monitor stock levels of seafood and breading supplies; alert management when supplies are low.
Pay:
$15.00 - $20.00 per hour
