Job Description

Overview We are seeking an energetic and motivated Travel Plaza General Manager to lead the daily operations of a busy travel plaza. This pivotal role involves overseeing retail sales, customer service, inventory management, and team leadership to ensure an exceptional experience for travelers and visitors alike. The ideal candidate will possess strong management skills, a passion for retail and hospitality, and the ability to motivate a diverse team. As the face of the travel plaza, you will drive sales growth, maintain operational excellence, and foster a welcoming environment for all guests. Duties Oversee daily operations to ensure efficiency, profitability, and high-quality customer experiences Achieve sales, revenue, and performance goals established by executive leadership Monitor fuel pricing and adjust retail gasoline prices based on market conditions Ensure the facility is clean, safe, well-stocked, and maintained across all areas (store, grounds, fueling stations) Oversee grab-and-go food service operations to ensure quality, safety, and profitability Manage inventory levels, minimize shrinkage, and implement inventory control processes Ensure point-of-sale systems, fuel systems, and equipment are functioning properly; coordinate repairs as needed Assist in developing and managing budgets and financial performance Monitor cash handling procedures, including overages and shortages Prepare and submit monthly operational reports Coordinate and ensure completion of audits Develop, implement, and maintain operational policies and procedures Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, licensing requirements, and company policies Collaborate with the Fuels Department to ensure safe handling and storage of fuel products Maintain a safe environment by addressing hazards and enforcing safety standards Report and respond to incidents including theft, drive-offs, injuries, or emergencies Collaborate with Human Resources to recruit, hire, and retain qualified staff Supervise, schedule, and delegate work to ensure adequate staffing and operational coverage Provide leadership, coaching, and training to promote strong customer service and team performance Conduct performance evaluations and manage employee relations, including disciplinary actions when necessary Facilitate regular supervisor meetings and ensure effective communication across all staff Maintain confidentiality and security of business and personnel records Coordinate with Human Resources on employee matters Support organizational initiatives and interdepartmental collaboration Perform other duties as assigned Experience Associate's degree in Business Management or a related field, or equivalent experience Minimum of three (3) years of convenience store or truck stop management experience Demonstrated proficiency in inventory management systems (POS), purchasing, pricing strategies, and retail math Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle challenging situations professionally Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and general computer applications Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills Ability to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently through effective time management and organizational skills Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct Requirements Must pass a background check Must pass a pre-employment drug screening Must possess a valid driver's license Join us as a Travel Plaza General Manager where your leadership will shape memorable experiences for travelers while driving operational success. $60,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
