Job Description

The Role The Assistant Front-of-House Manager is the floor lead when the FoH Manager is off. You are the second-in-command of the guest experience — keeping service running smoothly, supporting the team, and making the right call in the moment. You report directly to the Front-of-House Manager and step into the lead role with full authority during your shift. This is a hands-on role. You are not just managing — you are on the floor, in the flow, setting the pace. What You'll Do Run the front-of-house operation during your shift — overseeing counter service, dine-in flow, and team performance Support, coach, and hold accountable a team of Café Associates, Baristas, and Food Runners during your shift Ensure opening and closing procedures are executed with consistency and care Serve as the primary point of contact for guest concerns during your shift — handling issues with professionalism and urgency Maintain floor standards, cleanliness, and service pace throughout the shift Communicate clearly with the kitchen team to ensure smooth ticket flow and order accuracy Assist the FoH Manager with onboarding, training, and day-to-day team development Be a knowledgeable ambassador for the Lab 1860 menu — able to speak to ingredients, preparation, and the story behind the food Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods, and lift/carry objects up to 40 lbs without assistance Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays Other duties as assigned by management What We're Looking For 2+ years of experience in a restaurant or hospitality setting, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role Comfortable running a shift independently and making decisions under pressure Strong communicator — with guests, with your team, and across the pass Detail-oriented and consistent: you notice when something is off and you fix it Genuine enthusiasm for hospitality and creating a welcoming guest experience Curiosity about Levantine and Mediterranean food culture — willingness to learn the menu deeply POS experience and basic cash handling comfort required Food Handler certification required (or ability to obtain before opening) Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly rate: $20.00-$25.00 per hour, commensurate with experience Full-time position Health insurance coverage 401(k) with company matching Paid time off (PTO) Food & beverage discounts for all staff Pre-opening start date — you will be part of building Lab 1860 from day one Clear path to growth: this role is a direct stepping stone to a full FoH Manager position How to Apply Send your resume and a brief note about your background and why Lab 1860 interests you to contact@eatlab1860.com.
