General Manager Darling International Inc. United States, Kansas, Kansas City Jun 18, 2026 Job Summary The General Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire plant operation that processes incoming materials into high quality products, ensuring that equipment & buildings are sanitary and in good repair. Essential Duties/Responsibilities Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time. Manages safety program and is ultimately responsible for plant safety; maintains safety as top priority in accordance with all company safety rules and regulations. Responsible for the development of the management staff including Office Manager, Plant Manager and others who impact the performance of the facility. Ensures facility compliance with Corporate policies, procedures, and objectives. Responsible for compliance with all food safety regulations. Develops, implements, and monitors annual plant budget; reviews monthly expenditures Recruits and hires plant and administrative personnel. Establishes and maintains appropriate wage rates for personnel subject to Corporate approval. Responsible for proper training of all employees. Maintains efficient and timely flow of all incoming materials received and finished protein meal shipped. Monitors performance of individuals to ensure that procedures are being held to highest standards. Plan stock orders to minimize time and money spent on emergency ordering. Responsible for all the equipment and buildings that are used to process material. Conducts investigation of accidents that occur on site. All other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Minimum 5 or more years of experience in a mid-level management position in an industrial or plant setting. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in industrial engineering, operations management or agribusiness field preferred. Experience in the areas of continuous improvement, including 5S, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing concepts a definite plus. Leadership ability, able to direct personnel; makes timely, accurate judgments regarding production and process quality. Experience working in Microsoft Office Suite as well as an ERP system (ex. Oracle, SAP). Detail oriented; highly organized. Ability to work well with internal staff. Exceptional written and oral communication skills. Self-starter; self-motivated. Good math and computer skills.
