Kitchen Manager Location:
South Elementary School Job summary Food Service Kitchen Manager demonstrates leadership and initiative in all tasks to ensure the preparation and service of appetizing, nutritious, and well-presented meals served efficiently and courteously. Qualifications High School Diploma, or equivalent Prior experience working in a school cafeteria, required. Experience with a computerized point of sales system. Current managers Servsafe Certificate. Choke Safe Certification. Food Allergen Certificate. Knowledge of USDA Nutrition Program, food labels, ingredients and allergens. Partake in any other Professional Development scheduled by the Director and required by the USDA under the Professional Standards Requirements. Citizenship, residency or work visa required. Must have a working knowledge of all Food Service software systems, including Microsoft Office and Google. Operate all Food Service kitchen equipment. Responsibilities Knows the meal pattern components, serving sizes, and specific meal patterns that are applicable to their school. Assists with student taste tests and understands the importance of considering and respecting student food preferences. Active in reviewing sales reports and maximizing the product mix to drive sales and increase participation. Exercises fiscal responsibility through effective expense control, daily sales reconciliation, timely and accurate bank deposits. Maintains an accurate inventory including placing orders, transferring items, withdrawing items, and receiving orders in our inventory program. Accurately and promptly completes production records in the POS system. This includes the production planning, production record, and production withdrawals. Has knowledge of Food Safety protocols and maintains a clean and sanitary kitchen. Ensures that foods maintain quality and food safety when prepared and served, inspecting meal preparation and serving areas. Maintains proper storage protocols for all products within the program. Promotes teamwork and provides direction to Assistant Managers and Cafeteria Workers. Trains and mentors new and current employees emphasizing food safety standards and adherence to standardized recipes. Ability to respond to complaints, requests and questions in a professional and timely manner. Ability to complete orders for the correct food items and in the appropriate quantities. Assists with planning and execution of special events and catered functions. Maintains regular communication with the Director, School Administration, and the Nutrition Coordinator. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director and/or the Nutrition Coordinator.
Physical Requirements:
Able to work in a standing position for prolonged periods. Able to lift materials weighing up to 45 pounds. Able to be exposed to heat while cooking and preparing foods. Hazards may include, but are not limited to cuts from knives and slicers, burns.
