Job Description

The Ember Cigar Lounge Manager oversees the operations of the Ember Cigar Lounge, including the development and product knowledge of our team members. In addition, they help optimize profits and ensure that we exceed the expectations of our members during every visit. This role provides significant opportunity for career progression across brands, locations and into roles with greater responsibility. The Ember Cigar Lounge manager reports to the AGM and GM of the facility. General Oversee and manage all areas of the space and contribute to final decisions on matters of importance in collaboration with the General Manager. Be the in-house expert on cigars and train and develop staff on their knowledge of cigars, spirits, and wine. Responsible for ensuring consistent high quality of food & beverage preparation and service. Consistently deliver exceptional experience to our members. Connects and engages with our members to optimize satisfaction and loyalty. Maintain professional brand image, including lounge cleanliness and appearance standards. Cash Handling/Banking, as well as P&L management to optimize profit. Basic understanding of Toast POS and Toast Payroll. Coaches team on using available tools to manage daily operations. Proficient in all operating systems. Ensures proper use of company forms, procedures and SOPs Operations Oversee opening and closing of lounge. Demonstrate knowledge of our policies, procedures, guidelines, and expectations. Manage shifts including daily decision making, scheduling, and planning while upholding standards, product quality and cleanliness. Investigate and resolve complaints concerning food quality, beverage quality, cigar quality, and service. Assist with ordering to achieve cost targets while maintaining availability of menu items. Product receiving and invoice management. Manage team member productivity and labor targets. Support training initiatives by working with trainer and trainees. Oversee proper product storage and rotation. Conduct sanitation audits and work with management team to execute corrective action plans. Drives culture through training, consistency in messaging, fairness and integrity. Scheduling- understands forecasts and uses them to write effective schedules. Reviews payroll daily and weekly for accuracy. Personnel Assists with hiring of line level employees. Conducts interviews and orientation of new team members. Understands and follows the onboarding process. Financial Conduct regular financial reporting and analysis in support of General Manager. Ensure adherence to company standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs, including food, beverage, supply, utility and labor costs. Basic understanding of daily reporting of labor and revenue as a tool to control prime costs. Strong understanding of all reports, metrics and labor forecasting. Support all local accounting and personnel/payroll related administrative duties. Health & Safety Compliance with regulations including food and alcohol safety. Enforce team member compliance with company policies and procedures. Complete accident reports promptly in the event that a guest or team member is injured. Guests & Marketing Help deploy and manage local marketing initiatives. Provide strong presence in local community and high level of community involvement by venue and personnel. Ensure positive guest service in all areas. Respond to complaints, taking any and all appropriate actions to turn dissatisfied members. Qualifications Strong working knowledge of cigars is required. The ability to be conversational with guests on various brands and styles as well as the proper procedures to prepare a cigar is necessary. College degree is preferred. Bachelor's degree in hospitality/restaurant management is desirable. A combination of practical experience and education will be considered as an alternative. Minimum of 2 years of management experience. Knowledge of computers (MS Word, Excel) and POS systems. Must be eligible to work in the United States. Personal Requirements Pleasant, polite manner and a neat and clean appearance. Ability to motivate team members to work as a team to ensure that food, beverage, and service meet appropriate standards. Must possess good communication skills for dealing with diverse staff. Ability to coordinate multiple tasks such as food, beverage, cigar, and labor cost while maintaining required standards of operation in daily restaurant activities. Ability to determine applicability of experience and qualifications of job applicants. Commitment to honesty and integrity Working Conditions Hours may vary if manager must fill in for team members or if emergencies arise. Ability to perform all functions at the restaurant level. Position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting products and supplies weighing 45 pounds, and repetitive hand and wrist motion. Work with hot, cold, and hazardous equipment as well as operates phones, computers, copiers, and other office equipment.
