SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The General Manager is responsible for leading the front of house and back of house operations of the Cafe. The General Manager will spend significant time performing managerial duties, as well as some back of house cooking functions. Key responsibilities include hiring, managing, training and disciplining restaurant team members as well as the management team. The General Manager is responsible for ensuring excellent guest experience, the safety of our guests, team members and property, and product quality. The position will lead and develop the manager to drive catering, online orders and increased sales. The General Manager must hit operational and sales goals for the Cafe, as well as operate within brand standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Wears an "owner's hat" in operating the store. Cares about the store sales, labor, product, safety and security as if it is their own. Conducts daily walk through of property at beginning of shift to ensure outside is clean, lobby is clean, bathrooms are clean, kitchen area is cleaned, all surfaces have been cleaned and scrubbed. Knowledgeable and proficient in each position within the café and holds team to the responsibilities and standards of the company. Works to pass all health and Corporate audits by 90% or higher. Successful completion of the Cafe Basics, Certified Trainer, and Crew Leader Training Programs. Is ServSafe certified. Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new Crew Members to ensure the café is staffed at the appropriate level. Ensures all staff has completed full Café Basics training. Manages and delegates daily functions of the café including prepping product, making food and smoothies, serving customers, and completing daily and weekly cleaning and deep cleaning duties. Leads and coaches Assistant Managers, Shift Leads and staff during each shift to ensure brand standards are upheld. Manages the brand experience, including hospitality, quality control, and speed of service. Ensures all safety and security policies are being followed as set by the brand. Monitors sales growth and cost control of the store again the budgeted expectation and historical performance to maximize profitability. Manages labor (16
- 18 % average) to ensure proper staffing levels to meet the budget and sales strategy.
Manages the inventory levels. Conducts weekly inventory of all products to ensure overbuying not done or shortages occur. Ensure equipment is operable to execute brand standards. Ensures staff using proper rations of food and all prep completed and to correct standards. Promotes Tropical Smoothie Café outside the four walls of the store through app sales and catering sales. When issues arise, respond and resolve issue even if outside hours of standard schedule. This includes resolving complaint submissions, issues with equipment, shortages on product, issues with employees, responding to emails, and any other issues that may arise. Champions marketing and promotional campaigns. Executes marketing and sales programs following guidelines. Complete bank deposits to the bank at least three times a week. Balances all deposits to ensure no shortages. Develops weekly schedule by Thursday each week. Submits schedule to the District Manager for review by Thursday each week. Publishes schedule by Friday each week. Performs any additional tasks necessary to run the store.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE 5
years of food service experience or hospitality degree Legally able to work within the State and Federal guidelines. ServSafe certification required. Strong in driving operations execution in all areas of the store.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Continuous standing and walking throughout the duration of each shift. Bending, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds to perform duties like stocking, refilling ice, or taking out trash. Constant face-to-face interactions with crew members and customers. Safely navigate in a fast-paced café environment. Ability to multi-task and remain positive in sometimes stressful working conditions.
WORKING CONDITIONS
General Managers can expect to have a 50-hour work week, dictated by the needs of the business. Minimum work week is 45 hours. Must ensure store is open during posted store hours. Store cannot open late or close early. Some early mornings, late evenings, weekend, and/or holiday hours and will have additional opening/closing responsibilities. All managers must work at least one Saturday and one Sunday shift per month. Leads Crew Members and Leaders by demonstrating Tropical Smoothie Cafes core values in all interactions. Comply with the Tropical Smoothie Cafe uniform and personal hygiene polices for each shift and ensures staff also complies with uniform standards. Comfortable with a high level of change.
