This is an excellent opportunity for a food service professional seeking a stable Monday-Friday daytime schedule, no evenings, and most federal holidays off while helping launch and grow a new federal dining operation. Benefits Monday-Friday schedule Daytime hours Most federal holidays off Paid time off Professional growth opportunities Stable federal work environment Position Summary The Food Service Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the cafeteria, including food service, staff supervision, inventory management, customer service, sanitation compliance, and financial performance. The manager will ensure high-quality food service while maintaining all federal, state, and local health and safety standards. The operation will provide breakfast, lunch, grab-and-go meals, catering services, and special events for federal employees and visitors. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Manage daily cafeteria operations and customer service. Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate food service staff. Assist with hiring, onboarding, and performance management. Monitor food quality, presentation, and portion control. Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards. Maintain inventory levels and place food and supply orders. Control labor and food costs while meeting service expectations. Oversee breakfast and lunch service operations. Coordinate catering orders and special events. Conduct daily line checks and facility inspections. Address customer concerns and implement corrective actions when necessary. Maintain cleaning and sanitation schedules for front- and back-of-house operations. Maintain required records, logs, and operational reports. Work closely with federal building representatives and contract personnel. Assist in developing promotions, seasonal menus, and customer engagement initiatives. Qualifications Required High school diploma or GED. Serv Safe Manager Certification Minimum 5 years of food service management experience. Pass a Federal Background Check. Strong leadership and communication skills. Experience with scheduling and supervising employees. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations. Ability to work independently and solve problems effectively. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer systems. Preferred Experience managing cafeterias, corporate dining, hospitals, schools, military dining facilities, or government food service operations. Experience with inventory management and food cost controls. Catering experience. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in kitchen and food preparation environments.
