Job Description

Kitchen Manager Ponysaurus Brewing Co. - 3.5 Durham, NC Job Details Full-time $54,000 - $58,000 a year 4 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Employee discount Qualifications Sales analysis Leadership development Team development Hiring Mentoring Full Job Description This Isn't Just Another Kitchen Job. We're looking for a kitchen manager who loves building teams as much as building incredible food. Someone who believes consistency matters, systems matter, teaching matters, and every pizza that leaves the kitchen should make people want to come back tomorrow. At Ponysaurus, you'll have the opportunity to shape our culinary program, mentor a talented team, and build upon the strong foundation of one of Durham's favorite brewery kitchens. You'll Own... Building a kitchen team people want to be part of. Creating systems that make excellence repeatable. Managing food cost, inventory, purchasing, and profitability. Developing recipes, costing sheets, and kitchen standards. Keeping Toast, Grubhub and DoorDash menus accurate and current. Coaching prep cooks and line cooks into future leaders. Making sure every guest gets food you'd proudly serve your own family. Your Mission Ensure every pizza, sandwich, salad, and special looks and tastes like it came from the same chef—because consistency builds trust. Lead the kitchen every day, setting the standard for quality, urgency, and execution. Oversee prep and line cooks to deliver exceptional food every shift. Analyze food sales and collaborate with the General Manager and Front of House team on specials, menu performance, and sales opportunities. Own food cost, inventory, waste, purchasing, and profitability. Build systems that keep the kitchen organized, efficient, and scalable. Hire, coach, and develop a team that continues to grow professionally. Ensure the pizza program is executed with precision and consistency every day. Our #1 Leaderhsip Rule TEACH! TEACH! TEACH! The strongest kitchens aren't built by superheroes—they're built by leaders who develop people. We don't just hire cooks—we build careers. If someone on your team is a better manager six months after meeting you, you've done your job. You'll Fit Right In If You... Get excited about solving problems. Believe "good enough" isn't. Love clean systems and organized kitchens. Enjoy mentoring younger cooks. Care about food cost just as much as food quality. You celebrate your team's successes. Leave the kitchen better than you found it. This Probably Isn't the Right Fit if… Drama follows you. "That's not my job" is part of your vocabulary. You think shortcuts are harmless. You'd rather complain than improve a system. You aren't interested in developing others. Six Months From Now... You've built a kitchen people are proud to work in. Food costs are on target. Guests rave about consistency and quality of the food. The kitchen runs smoothly—even when you're not standing there. Your team has grown because you invested in them. The Bottom Line This job isn't easy. You'll work hard. You'll lead from the front. You'll teach constantly. You'll obsess over quality. You'll build systems that make great food happen every single day. If you're passionate about leading people, creating incredible food, and leaving your mark on one of Durham's favorite breweries, we'd love to meet you.
