Job Description

Position Summary:
The Assistant Production Manager supports the Production Manager in supervising daily production operations and overseeing direct and indirect staff. This role ensures that production activities meet safety, quality, cost, delivery, and environmental standards.
Core Responsibilities:
Supervise and review the work of Production Supervisors. Ensure all plant safety, food safety, quality, and environmental standards are met. Monitor production employees and ensure timely completion of work. Identify production issues and develop improvement plans. Interface with internal departments and management. Prepare and maintain production reports. Work with HR to evaluate staffing needs, screen applicants, and participate in hiring. Support QCDSE initiatives and resolve related issues. Develop, revise, and enforce SOPs and Work Instructions. Assist with training Production Supervisors, Leads, and Operators. Collaborate with QA to ensure proper documentation, non‑conformance handling, root cause analysis, and corrective actions. Assist HR with disciplinary actions as needed.
Additional Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with company safety procedures and verify subordinate compliance. Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost efficiencies. Complete special projects as assigned by the Production Manager. Maintain high ethical standards and effective communication with employees and external partners. Comply with all company policies and procedures. Occasional travel for meetings, inspections, and training. Voluntary weekend support during peak production periods.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma with 5 years of related experience, or Bachelor's degree with 3 years of related experience. Strong managerial skills including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat. Strong organization, planning, problem‑solving, and multitasking abilities. Ability to handle confidential information and work both independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications:
3-5 years of leadership experience in food and/or pharmaceutical manufacturing. Familiarity with GMP and GMP audits. Lean Manufacturing certification. Management certificate.
Pay:
$75,000.00 per year
