Job Description

Overview We are seeking seeking an experienced, hands-on General Manager to lead our high-volume sports bar and restaurant in downtown Raleigh. Applicants must have direct management experience using Toast POS. The ideal candidate takes ownership of operations, communicates proactively with ownership, maintains strong financial controls, and leads both front-of-house and back-of-house teams. The General Manager must remain visible on the floor, actively support peak shifts, and respond quickly to staffing issues, equipment failures, internet or POS outages, guest concerns, safety incidents, and other operational emergencies. Operations and Leadership Manage daily front-of-house and back-of-house operations. Maintain a strong floor presence during busy shifts and major events. Lead, train, schedule, and hold employees accountable. Ensure opening, closing, and shift procedures are completed. Address problems immediately and notify ownership of serious issues. Document significant incidents and corrective actions. Develop dependable managers and shift leaders. Toast POS and Financial Controls Oversee proper use of Toast POS throughout the restaurant. Ensure all guest checks are properly paid, documented, and closed. Manage discounts, voids, refunds, comps, cash drawers, check adjustments, manager approvals, and employee permissions. Understand and manage Toast Offline Mode during internet outages. Train employees on payments, check handling, and outage procedures. Review Toast reports for cash shortages, unpaid checks, unusual transactions, excessive discounts, voids, and refunds. Complete accurate deposits, shift reports, and closing reconciliations. Prevent theft, unauthorized discounts, giveaways, and revenue loss. Food and Labor Cost Management Maintain food and labor costs within company targets. Build schedules based on projected sales and event volume. Control overtime and adjust staffing when business levels change. Monitor waste, over-portioning, spoilage, over-ordering, and inventory variance. Review vendor orders, invoices, receiving, and product usage. Conduct regular food and beverage inventory counts. Take corrective action when costs exceed target. Staff and Guest Management Recruit, train, coach, and retain qualified employees. Enforce attendance, service, payment, cash-handling, and conduct standards. Maintain strong food quality, cleanliness, speed, and hospitality. Resolve guest complaints professionally. Prepare the restaurant for games, festivals, concerts, and special events. Preferred Qualifications Sports bar or late-night restaurant experience. ServSafe Manager certification. Responsible alcohol-service certification. Experience reviewing P&L, payroll, inventory, sales, discount, void, and refund reports. Experience managing more than $1 million in annual restaurant sales.
Pay:
$55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
