BOH Manager — Kooks Cafe & Beach Bar Rye NH | Full-Time | Start Date May Who We Are Kooks Café & Beach Bar is a vibrant, surf-inspired café located steps from the ocean in Rye, NH. We're known for our fresh, beachy menu. Serving tacos, small bites, breakfast sandwiches, acai bowls, and smoothies. Kooks is a fun, fast-paced environment with a tight-knit team and a younger staff. We're not just a restaurant; we're a destination for locals, tourists, and beachgoers who love good food and good energy. Who We're Looking For We need a BOH Manager who leads with warmth, patience, and authority. Someone who can mentor a young team while keeping operations tight. If your background is purely fast-paced line cooking or traditional brigade kitchens, this probably isn't your fit. We're not looking for someone who manages at people we need someone who manages with them.
You are:
A natural mentor and team builder: especially with younger, less experienced staff Have the experience to jump into a new kitchen and hit the ground running Calm under pressure but high-energy when it counts Organized to a fault: you own the schedule, the ordering, and the prep flow
Creative:
you care about how food looks, tastes, and tells a story Someone who takes pride in a clean, efficient, happy kitchen What You'll Own Full BOH scheduling and shift management Food ordering, vendor coordination, and inventory control Prep kitchen oversight quality, consistency, and timing Onboarding and training new kitchen staff Menu prep execution and contributing creative direction Maintaining health code standards and kitchen cleanliness What You Bring Proven food service experience Experience managing or mentoring a team: especially younger employees Strong organizational and communication skills Comfort with ordering systems, cost awareness, and inventory management A collaborative, steady leadership presence What You Won't Find Here A rigid, traditional kitchen hierarchy.
