Job Description

A skilled Sous Chef / Kitchen Manager acts as the head chef's trusted lieutenant, ensuring the elements of a meal are properly prepared and ready to be served to paying guests. They are also responsible for the overall cleanliness and organization of the kitchen as well as training and supervising the kitchen staff.. The Sous Chef / Kitchen Manager of Turquiose Desert will assume the lead position while the Chef is unavalible or off. We are looking for the right person to join our culinary team.
Sous Chef Job Responsibilities:
Directs food preparation and collaborates with Executive Chef. Helps in the design of food and drink menu. Produces high quality plates, including both design and taste. Oversees and supervises kitchen staff. Assists with menu planning, inventory, waste control, and management of supplies. Ensures that food is top quality and that kitchen is in acceptable condition. Keeps stations clean and complies with food safety standards. Offers suggestions and creative ideas that can improve upon the kitchen's performance. Prepares food / prep properly. Trains new employees. Monitors and maintains kitchen equipment. Solves problems that arise and seizes control of issues in the kitchen. Must be trusted to be the chef when the chef is not here. Qualifications:
Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and procedures Management skills Familiarity with industry's rules and regulations Must be clean and organized Leadership Creativity Waste Control Motivating Staff Team Player Hand-eye coordination Time-management skills Decision making Handles pressure Deals with uncertainty
Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent At least 1 year kitchen supervisor experience or 5 years professional kitchen experience is prefferd, but will not disqualify you. ServSafe / (Manager) is a plus but NM Food Handlers is required
