About Clew's KitchenClew's Kitchen is a newly created small business, selling unique savory biscuits that are GF and protein forward. We take pride in every batch we bake, and we're looking for someone who shares that same love for great food and has an entrepenurial spirit.
About the RoleWe're looking for a skilled, motivated Chef / Kitchen Operations Manager to join Clew's Kitchen on a part-time, flexible basis. This is more than a baking role you'll be a key operational partner, helping to grow production, manage the kitchen efficiently, and represent the business at pop-up and market events.
You'll work closely with the founder, take ownership of day-to-day kitchen operations, and have the potential to step up and keep the business running independently including during a period of maternity leave. As the business grows, there is also the exciting opportunity to manage additional kitchen staff in the future.
This is an ideal role for someone with baking or culinary experience who is ready to take on real responsibility in a growing independent food business.
What You'll Be DoingKitchen & ProductionLeading biscuit production mixing, baking, and packaging to consistently high standardsMaintaining strict food hygiene and sanitation standards in line with food safety regulationsEnsuring all recipes and quality standards are followed precisely with every batchIdentifying opportunities for cost-effective production without compromising on qualityInventory & OperationsManaging ingredient and packaging inventory, including ordering and stock controlBuilding and maintaining clear communication with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely, cost-effective sourcingKeeping accurate records of stock levels, wastage, and production outputSupporting cost management across kitchen operations to help the business run efficientlyEvents & Customer ExperienceSetting up and running stalls at pop-up and market events, including customer-facing servicePreparing event-specific stock, packaging, and logistics in advanceRepresenting Clew's Kitchen with professionalism and warmth at every eventCommunication & LeadershipMaintaining clear, proactive communication with the owner on all operational mattersTaking initiative and managing the kitchen independently when requiredSupporting the onboarding and management of additional kitchen staff as the business growsKey Skills & ExperienceEssentialProven experience in a professional kitchen, bakery, or food production environmentStrong understanding of food hygiene, sanitation standards, and food safety regulationsExperience managing inventory, stock control, or supplier relationshipsAbility to operate cost-consciously and make practical, budget-aware decisionsExcellent communication skills reliable, clear, and proactive with both the owner and external vendorsHighly organised, self-motivated, and able to work independently with minimal supervisionFlexible availability, including potential weekends for market eventsDesirableFood Hygiene Certificate or willingness to obtain oneExperience working at markets, pop-ups, or in a customer-facing food settingPrevious experience supervising or supporting a small teamUnderstanding of small business or sole trader operationsGrowth PotentialThis role is designed to grow with the business.
