Job Description

The General Manager is responsible for leading the overall operations of a private members club fine dining restaurant, ensuring that every aspect of the member and guest experience reflects the club's standards of exclusivity, hospitality, and excellence. This role oversees daily restaurant operations, service standards, reservations, staffing, member relations, private events, financial performance, and coordination between front-of-house, back-of-house, and club leadership. The General Manager ensures that the dining room operates smoothly, maintains an elegant and professional atmosphere, and consistently delivers refined service suited to a private club environment. This position requires strong leadership, discretion, and exceptional hospitality management skills. The General Manager recruits, trains, schedules, supervises, and develops the service team while setting clear expectations for professionalism, grooming, communication, and attention to detail. They work closely with the Executive Chef, beverage team, events team, and club management to maintain menu knowledge, support wine and beverage programming, manage special requests, and ensure seamless execution of à la carte dining, member functions, private dinners, and VIP experiences. Building strong relationships with members is essential, as the General Manager must anticipate preferences, handle feedback with tact, and resolve concerns promptly and professionally. The ideal candidate has significant management experience in fine dining, luxury hospitality, private clubs, or high-end restaurant operations. They should demonstrate excellent communication, financial management, staff development, problem-solving, and service recovery skills, along with a strong understanding of food and beverage operations, labor control, budgeting, inventory, reservations systems, and member-focused service standards. The General Manager must be polished, composed under pressure, highly organized, and available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as required by the club's operating schedule.
