Pilar Coffee Bar (Roslyn, NY) Food and Craft Desserts.
Position:
General Manager Pilar Coffee Bar is the newest specialty coffee & food shop in the heart of beautiful Roslyn, NY — a walkable, charming community known for its local character and neighborhood feel. We're building a destination for people who value quality, craft, and a welcoming atmosphere. We're looking for a hands‑on General Manager who can define and grow this flagship location from day one. Ideal candidates will bring solid food services and specialty coffee experience and demonstrated success leading teams in a fast‑paced environment. This position includes performance‑based bonuses tied to store growth and operational excellence for the right experienced candidate.What You'll Do Oversee Daily Operations:
Manage all aspects of Pilar Coffee Bar, including staffing, merchandising, training, inventory, and customer service. Lead theTeam:
Create and manage weekly schedules to ensure smooth coverage across all shifts.Ensure Quality & Speed:
Make sure all beverages and food items are prepared accurately, consistently, and delivered promptly. Support Front‑of‑House Excellence:
Oversee register operations, guest interactions, and hands‑on service during busy periods. Support Back‑of‑House Excellence:
Execute high‑standards prep, inventory control, and back‑line organization to elevate the café's overall performance.Maintain Equipment:
Monitor and maintain all café equipment, addressing issues quickly and coordinating repairs when needed.Uphold Standards:
Ensure the highest levels of cleanliness, safety, and food‑handling compliance throughout the store.Improve & Innovate:
Continuously evaluate processes, menu offerings, and service flow to identify opportunities for improvement.Deliver Exceptional Service:
Assist guests with selections, answer questions, and create a warm, engaging environment.Support Store Goals:
Contribute to company initiatives and help drive overall store success. Turn a neighborhood secret into a neighborhood staple, transforming curiosity into loyalty and first‑time guests into regulars. What We're Looking For High School Diploma or equivalent, College degrees preferred At least 3 years of hands‑on experience in a coffee shop, café, or specialty food environment, with proven leadership in roles such as Shift Lead or Manager. Strong understanding of inventory management, product rotation, food safety, and café operations Proven experience hiring, training, scheduling, and developing staff Confident leadership skills with the ability to motivate and energize a team A guest‑first mindset with a passion for delivering exceptional service Ability to enforce safety procedures, especially when handling equipment and hot beverages A natural relationship‑builder who connects easily with both customers and team members Duties Lead and supervise all restaurant operations, including food preparation, service, and cleanliness standards to ensure an outstanding guest experience Oversee inventory control, ordering supplies, and managing food costs to maximize profitability Manage POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS for seamless transactions and reporting Train, develop, and motivate staff through effective onboarding, ongoing training, and performance evaluations Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, sanitation standards, and health codes Handle cash management duties including cash handling procedures, shift reconciliation, and deposit preparation Coordinate shift schedules, supervise team members, and manage staffing levels to meet business demands The duties outlined above are essential to the position; however, team members may be asked to perform additional responsibilities as directed by their supervisor.
