Our gourmet store in Yorktown Heights, NY is seeking a FT Assistant Kitchen Manager for its busy store. This individual will assist with the supervision of kitchen staff and their duties and functions by managing the pantry, inventory, controlling how food is stored and prepared and supervising how the customers are serviced. This individual will have hands on expertise preparing gourmet dishes from scratch and has the ability to supervise and guide staff to deliver quality, timely food and ensure that all customers are satisfied. Responsibilities Will ensure that all food items and products are stored, prepared and served based on the kitchen's recipe, preparation and portion standardsWorking as part of the team, will prepare dishes according to Uncle Giuseppe's company and store recipesWorking with the Kitchen Manager, assist with all hiring, training, scheduling, and all other kitchen administrative functionsWorking directly with Kitchen Management, will order kitchen materials and ingredients based off of the store menu and ingredientsSupervising food preparation in the kitchen and ensuring that customers are satisfiedMaintaining a clean working environment and making sure that employees follow the kitchen's safety and company policiesMaintaining adequate inventory levels and conducting daily and weekly inventoriesWorking with various department managers to create menu items, pricing and establishing portion sizes of each meal, holiday, special event, catering ordersScheduling shifts by business hours, days, and occasionsOverseeing the training of employees to ensure the safe operation of kitchen equipment and utensils and the proper handling of heavy items and hazardous materials.

Other duties and functions as assigned Requirements HS Diploma or equivalentMust have a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience working in a restaurant/boh environment. Must have working knowledge of all food safety rules and standards, proper storage, handling, preparation, etc.

In depth experience preparing all types of food dishes, with a focus on Italian cuisineExcellent understanding of all back of the house administrative duties and functions in a very busy working kitchenPrior experience in teaching and mentoring kitchen employeesMust be able to speak, read and communicate in the English languageOutstanding communication and supervisory skillsHigh motivation with the ability to think quickly on the job We offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(K), 50% off of lunch, 25% off of in store shopping and more! Working Conditions Most of the time is spent moving about continuously on hard surfaces. There may be a need to frequently position oneself to examine and/or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping.

May require lifting objects up to 30 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 30 pounds with assistance.

Usually in a comfortable indoor environment surrounded by moving machinery and/or loud equipment that may require shouting in order to be heard. There could be exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and/or coolers.

There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents.
