Job Description
Private family household in the Delphos area is looking for a reliable, discreet, and capable part-time household assistant to help keep our home running smoothly. This is not elder care, child care, or deep cleaning. We already have regular house cleaning. This role is focused on household support: laundry, bedding, groceries, meal planning, meal prep, light household reset, errands, and organization. We are hoping to find someone long-term who is trustworthy, self-motivated, comfortable working in a private home, and able to take initiative once they learn our household routines.
Responsibilities may include:
Washing, drying, folding, and putting away clothing laundry Washing and changing bedding on a rotating/as-needed basis Keeping the laundry area organized and noting when supplies are low Grocery shopping, grocery pickup, and putting groceries away Helping maintain grocery and household supply lists Checking pantry, refrigerator, and freezer before shopping Noticing expired food and helping keep food areas organized Suggesting simple meal ideas for approval Preparing grocery lists based on approved meals Basic meal prep and cooking, including simple family meals, soups, casseroles, crockpot meals, proteins, vegetables, breakfast/lunch prep, and make-ahead items Portioning, labeling, dating, and freezing meals when helpful Cleaning up the kitchen after meal prep or cooking Light household reset, such as putting things away, tidying common areas, and helping keep household routines on track Light organization projects, such as pantry, refrigerator/freezer, laundry room, linen closet, mudroom, or storage areas Local household errands as needed, such as grocery pickup, pharmacy pickup, post office/shipping, hardware store runs, or donation drop-offs Being comfortable with a dog, including occasionally letting the dog out, feeding, or refilling water Using shared grocery lists or meal-planning apps as needed This is not a weekly cleaning job or deep-cleaning position. The right person should be comfortable helping with light household reset and organization, but regular house cleaning is handled separately.
Ideal candidate:
Dependable, trustworthy, and respectful of privacy in a private home Comfortable working independently after learning our routines Comfortable with basic cooking and meal prep Able to suggest simple meal ideas and eventually take more ownership as preferences are learned Organized and willing to help create simple systems for groceries, meals, laundry, and household supplies Comfortable with a dog No heavy fragrance/perfume while working in the home Has reliable transportation and is comfortable with local errands Able to carry laundry baskets, groceries, and household items Able to stand while prepping food, cooking, or organizing Willing to provide references Willing to complete a background check if selected as a finalist
Schedule:
Two days per week. Hours are flexible depending on fit and household needs. Same days each week are preferred, but we can be flexible for the right person.
Pay:
$25-$32 per hour depending on experience and fit. Higher pay may be considered for an exceptional long-term fit with strong household management and cooking experience. We hope to find someone who becomes a trusted long-term part of our household routine. We would begin with a mutual trial period to make sure the arrangement works well for everyone.
