The Assistant General Manager supports the General Manager as a key leader and culture carrier at Opus. This role helps ensure that hospitality, team development, and daily operations are executed with consistency, care, and intention. The AGM is both a hands-on floor leader and a developing strategic operator—bridging service excellence with operational discipline, with a particular focus on beverage execution and wine program support. Role Summary The Assistant General Manager leads by example, working closely with the General Manager to uphold the standards of hospitality, culture, and performance at Opus. This position plays a critical role in the daily execution of service, team leadership, beverage program support, and operational systems, while growing toward full general management responsibility. Essential Job Functions Hospitality & Guest Experience Serve as an active, visible presence on the floor during service, supporting a seamless and welcoming guest experience Model and reinforce service standards rooted in warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail Address guest needs and concerns with empathy, urgency, and accountability Support service recovery efforts and ensure follow-through Help maintain consistency in how the Opus brand and values are expressed through service People, Culture & Leadership Support hiring, onboarding, and training of service staff and supervisors Lead by example in fostering a culture of respect, accountability, and teamwork Provide coaching and real-time feedback to team members during service Help develop emerging leaders within the team Contribute to a work environment where team members feel supported, heard, and motivated Operational Execution Assist in overseeing daily restaurant operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service Support scheduling, shift organization, and labor management Help implement and maintain systems, training programs, and service protocols Ensure compliance with health, safety, and labor standards Collaborate with culinary leadership to support alignment between kitchen and front-of-house operations Beverage & Wine Program Support execution and daily management of the beverage program, with a strong emphasis on wine Assist in maintaining wine list accuracy, inventory, and organization Train and coach staff on wine knowledge, service standards, and pairing guidance Work with leadership on wine selection, vendor relationships, and cost management Ensure beverage service reflects the same level of care, knowledge, and hospitality as the food program Financial & Administrative Support Assist the General Manager in managing labor, costs, and operational efficiency Support inventory, ordering, and cost control practices Contribute to achieving financial goals through strong execution and team performance Help monitor key performance indicators and identify areas for improvement Qualifications & Experience 3-7 years of restaurant leadership experience, including supervisory or management roles Experience in upscale casual or fine dining environments preferred Strong commitment to hospitality and guest experience Wine knowledge required; formal wine education (e.g., WSET, CMS) strongly preferred Demonstrated ability to lead by example and support team development Solid understanding of restaurant operations and service systems Eagerness to grow into a senior leadership role
