Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking an energetic and dynamic General Manager - Restaurant for a family owned restaurant with a rich history in the greater Johnstown area. Initially you will work side by side with the owners to meet specific goals in growing the restaurant business. Profit sharing will be available for the right candidate. Lead daily restaurant operations, ensuring smooth service flow and high standards of food quality, safety, and cleanliness. Manage staffing including hiring, training, supervising, and developing team members to deliver outstanding customer service. Oversee inventory control, food preparation processes, and food safety protocols to minimize waste and ensure compliance with health regulations. Utilize POS systems such as Toast and Thrive for order processing, cash handling, sales tracking, and reporting. Maintain budgetary oversight by monitoring expenses, controlling costs, and maximizing profitability through strategic management. Implement staff training programs focused on food handling, customer service excellence, and operational procedures. Ensure adherence to all food safety standards, sanitation practices, and hospitality regulations across the restaurant. Supervise shift management activities including scheduling, task delegation, and performance evaluations. Foster a positive team environment by motivating staff through effective leadership, coaching, and development initiatives. Coordinate with kitchen management on food production schedules, catering events, banquet services, and special promotions. Qualifications Proven experience in restaurant management or hospitality management roles with supervisory responsibilities. Strong background in food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen management within quick service or casual dining environments. Familiarity with POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS for sales transactions and inventory tracking. Demonstrated skills in staff training & development, team management, interviewing candidates, and leadership. Knowledge of food safety standards including proper handling procedures and sanitation practices. Experience managing budgets, controlling costs, and implementing operational improvements. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to resolve issues promptly while maintaining a positive atmosphere. Ability to oversee multiple responsibilities such as shift management, food production oversight, catering coordination, and bar operations if applicable. Previous experience in fine dining or hotel food service environments is a plus; barista or coffee experience is beneficial too.
