They provide leadership to a team of volunteers who equitably and compassionately serve clients, cultivate lasting community partnerships, and lead improvements in our services, organization, and funding base. About the Health Equitable Living Project The Healthy Equitable Living Project (H.E.L.P.) began more than twelve years ago as a ministry of First Presbyterian Church, Vancouver, WA and is now a separate 501c3 nonprofit, registered in Washington state. We provide equitable access to food and essential resources to meet the basic needs of Vancouver students and their families. The Vancouver School District's Family-Community Resource Centers (FCRC) often refer client families to our services. Our goal is to provide needed resources while treating all participants with privacy, dignity, and respect. Job Responsibilities Leadership - Champion the mission of the Healthy Equitable Living Project within the local community. Cultivate relationships with food partners, key community members, pantry volunteers, donors, and the Board of Directors. Streamline operations, infrastructure, and services of the organization. Recruit, train, grow, coordinate, supervise, and support our volunteer staff. Work with the Board to identify complementary program growth opportunities. Operations - Lead day-to-day pantry operations and service distribution events. Develop, adjust, and implement systems, policies and procedures for acquisition, inventory, and distribution of service items (food and non-food). Ensure awareness and adherence to pertinent regulations, guidelines, partner requirements, and food delivery safety. Financial Management - Establish an annual program budget in collaboration with the Board of Directors. Follow board approved financial processes, including monthly and quarterly tracking and expense and income reporting. Ensure compliance with purchasing, reimbursement, and in-kind donation policies. Partner with the Board to investigate and seek opportunities for additional funding sources (grants, donors, partners) and assist with fundraising events. Community Engagement, Partnerships and Communication - Maintain and build relationships with donors, partners, the Vancouver School District Family-Community Resource Centers (FCRC), and the Vancouver First Presbyterian Church Mission Ministry. Represent the organization at selected community events. Maintain confidentiality and privacy policies for participating families. Establish and maintain clear communication with volunteers, clients, and board members. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Work effectively both independently and within a team environment. Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality. Communicate effectively (verbal & written) with a broad range of individuals and groups. Apply excellent time management and organizational skills. Exhibit computer proficiency and an ability to utilize apps and web platforms as needed. Able to research and write grant applications. Enjoy working in a diverse, multicultural, equitable service environment for a diversity of clients. Willingly participate to cultivate a supportive, respectful, and positive workplace. Comfortable working in a collaborative environment within a church setting. Experience & Education Any combination of experience and education which provides the necessary skills, knowledge, and ability to succeed in this position. Experience leading volunteers with a supportive, enriching, and positive manner. Demonstrated decision-making, problem solving, and analytical skills and an ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks. Holds or can obtain a current Food Workers Card. Holds a valid & current Driver License and has a clean DMV driving record with valid & current car insurance. Supplemental food ordering and pickup is an essential function of the position. Multi-lingual ability is preferred but is not required. Working Conditions Most job responsibilities require on-site work while some duties may be done remotely. Position frequently requires moving heavy objects. Position may require use of personal vehicle to obtain supplemental purchased food.
Job Status, Compensation & Benefits Annual Part-time Salary:
Minimum of $22,880 per year commensurate with experience. 20 work hours per week typically spread across Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday with some ability to accommodate work-from-home. 68 hours of annual PTO accrued semi-monthly. Six annual paid holidays, prorated for the part-time work week. Exempt, part-time salaried position. Job Location:
