Job Description

General Manager Smithfields Country Club Easley, South Carolina Smithfields Country Club is seeking an energetic, professional, and hands-on General Manager to lead day-to-day operations and help continue the club's growth and improvement. This is not a desk-only management role. We are looking for a visible leader who is comfortable being on the floor, interacting with members, supporting staff, solving problems in real time, and setting the tone for a high-quality club experience. The right candidate will bring strong hospitality instincts, operational discipline, and a genuine desire to build a great private club culture. Smithfields has undergone significant improvements and continues to invest in the golf course, clubhouse, food and beverage operations, member experience, and overall facilities. We need a General Manager who can help lead that momentum, hold the team accountable, and make sure every part of the club operates with professionalism, consistency, and pride. Key Responsibilities The General Manager will oversee the daily operations of Smithfields Country Club, including golf operations, clubhouse operations, food and beverage service, member relations, staffing, scheduling, events, facility standards, and overall execution.
Responsibilities include:
Managing and supporting department leaders and staff across the club Maintaining a strong, visible presence with members, guests, and employees Ensuring excellent member service and a welcoming club environment Holding staff accountable to checklists, policies, service standards, and daily expectations Overseeing clubhouse cleanliness, presentation, and operational readiness Supporting golf events, member events, private events, and food and beverage operations Monitoring labor, expenses, inventory, and daily operating performance Helping recruit, train, coach, and develop employees Communicating clearly with ownership regarding issues, needs, opportunities, and progress Solving problems quickly and professionally as they arise Leading by example with a hands-on, team-first approach Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is polished, dependable, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership of the entire club experience. This person should have the energy to move throughout the property, the professionalism to represent the club well, and the discipline to make sure standards are followed every day. We are looking for someone who: Has strong leadership and communication skills Takes pride in hospitality, service, and presentation Is comfortable working nights, weekends, events, and busy club days as needed Can manage both people and processes effectively Is organized, accountable, and detail-oriented Does not wait to be told what needs to be done Can coach staff while also jumping in to help when needed Understands that private club management requires visibility, consistency, and member engagement Has prior experience in golf, private clubs, hospitality, restaurants, events, or similar operations What We Value Smithfields Country Club is looking for a leader who believes that standards matter.
