About the Role As Kitchen Manager, you will lead the daily food service operation at one of our school partner locations. You will oversee the food preparation food ordering and inventory, and ensure every student is served a quality meal on time, every day. This is a hands-on role with you as the sole person responsible for the food service program at this location. This role is a great fit for someone who is dependable, takes pride in their work, genuinely cares about feeding kids well, and is looking for a stable, Monday-Friday schedule with real room to grow. Primary Responsibilities Kitchen Leadership & Operations Lead, schedule, and supervise a team of cooks and servers in daily food service operations Oversee all kitchen opening and closing procedures, food prep timelines, and meal service Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen that meets local health code and Crave-It Nutrition standards Ensure meals are prepared and served on time for all students, every day Prepare and cook the food needed for lunch service each day. Menu & Food Quality Execute weekly menus with a focus on quality, student appeal, and appropriate portion sizes Adapt meal preparation to accommodate dietary needs and food allergies Ensure consistent food quality and presentation that students look forward to Ordering, Inventory & Administration Manage daily and weekly food ordering to meet production needs without over-purchasing Conduct regular inventory counts and maintain accurate receiving records Track daily meal counts and adjust production to minimize food waste Maintain food safety logs, temperature records, and other required documentation Communicate supply needs, issues, or concerns to your regional manager in a timely manner School & Community Relations Build positive, respectful relationships with school staff, administrators, and families Handle parent and staff inquiries about the food program professionally and warmly Represent Crave-It Nutrition with integrity and a service-first attitude every day Qualifications & Requirements Required Minimum 5 years of professional cooking and kitchen experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role Experience with food ordering and inventory management Reliable, punctual, and consistent — your team and your students depend on you being there Ability to pass a comprehensive criminal background check Willingness to complete Safe Environment Training as required prior to start Current Food Manager's Certificate (or ability to obtain before start date) Positive attitude and a genuine desire to serve others — especially kids Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in an active kitchen environment Preferred Experience in school food service, cafeteria management, or childcare food programs Knowledge of common childhood food allergies and safe food handling practices Bilingual in English and Spanish — a strong plus in many of our communities Basic computer or tablet skills for order entry and daily reporting Who You Are You are someone who shows up — not just physically, but fully.
