This is a part-time position requiring knowledge and experience in managing a housing facility of community style living and working with individuals with lived experience of homelessness. The ideal candidate must have the ability to deliver human services and work effectively with persons at various stages of the continuum of care of Mother Teresa Shelter (MTS) following policies established and clarified with the Director of Operations.
Ministerial Character:
The Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church (The Diocese) entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them. Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, the employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.
General Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, the House Manager is responsible for the management of the MTTH including overseeing daily operations, resident supervision, policy enforcement, maintaining building codes/regulations and fostering a stable living environment. The list below reflects the general details considered necessary to describe the primary functions of the job identified and shall not be construed as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the job.
Facility Management:
As an integral part of ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church Continuously grow in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed Responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of MTTH, including resident/staff safety, cleanliness, code compliance, report incidents, and submit maintenance requests In collaboration with the Director of Operations, assess maintenance requests and recommend if the issue can be completed internally or through a third-party vendor Make regular inspections of the facility to ensure supplies are stocked, machines are operational, the facility is sanitary, etc. Manage service contracts with external vendors approved by the Director of Operations Maintain a budget ledger of facility expenditures Respond to emergency calls to provided phone for emergencies after regular work hours
Resident Management:
Conduct final interviews to deem eligibility for potential residents of MTTH Complete clerical duties of maintaining lease agreements for all residents, collecting monthly rent, coordinating drug screenings, receiving/distributing mail, enforcing policies outlined in the resident lease agreement, etc. Coordinate ordering of supplies and picking up food/stocking the pantry for residents Build rapport with MTTH residents and collaborate with MTS Case Managers when applicable to provide information/updates on residents in compliance with confidentiality agreements Collaborate with the Unhoused Outreach Case Manager providing information to include in the monthly calendar of community partners/agencies of services Ensure proper documentation in accordance with HMIS system or CRMS system; including reporting outcomes as instructed by the Director of Mission Advancement Perform other duties assigned by the
Executive Director Mental/Physical Demands:
Ability to carry, pull, push, lift, or move objects 10 pounds or more Ability to maintain composure under duress; maintain emotional control under stress Must maintain confidentiality of the department
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree or related field experience in facility management, community living management, and experience with people with lived experience of homelessness Strong computer skills; including Microsoft Office, client record management systems Effective organizational skills, time management, and self-motivated. Valid Texas State Driver's License, vehicle insurance coverage and a good driving record. Be a strong communicator, verbal and written, and understand cultural differences
Additional Requirements:
Must successfully complete criminal history background check, motor vehicle record review, and drug screening Certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office for Safe Environment and Child & Family Resources is required Complete a CPR/First Aid certification class.
