Full Job Description Job Summary :
A Shop Lead at WRC is responsible for overseeing the overall success of the shop, ensuring exceptional customer service, operational efficiency, and a positive team environment. In addition to fulfilling all Barista and Shift Lead duties, the Shop Lead takes full ownership of store performance, striving to exceed sales goals, maintain high team morale, and uphold WRC's mission. As a role model and leader, the Shop Lead fosters staff development, enforces company standards, and continuously enhances the customer experience.
Essential Responsibilities :
General Administration Maintain accurate shop records, including health inspection compliance. Complete all weekly paperwork and ensure daily review of shop emails. Prepare staff schedules using HotSchedules and process payroll adjustments by deadlines. Manage cash handling, including balancing drawers in Toast, making deposits, and maintaining petty cash. Monitor daily sales and labor reports to optimize operational efficiency. Customer Service Create enthusiastically satisfied customers by ensuring product, service, and atmosphere excellence. Train and enforce WRC's Customer Service Recovery protocols. Ensure all team members provide a high-quality experience through suggestive selling and excellent service. Develop rapport with regular customers by learning names and preferences. Ensure prompt, polite, and personalized service, engaging guests at every opportunity. Collaborate with upper management and employees to enhance the overall customer experience. Effectively resolve customer complaints using the LEARN acronym and train staff accordingly. Ensure customers leave satisfied and feel valued upon departure. Quality Assurance Maintain high standards for all products by following White Rock Coffee's recipes and preparation guidelines. Ensure perfect espresso shots and properly steamed milk for all beverages. Serve correctly baked pastries and maintain fresh food offerings. Uphold superior product presentation, ensuring appropriate toppings, ingredients, and utensils. Shop Maintenance & Inventory Management Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance of shop equipment. Maintain a Duty Roster to uphold cleanliness across the café, BOH, and FOH. Ensure the shop meets or exceeds appearance standards, both inside and outside. Monitor temperature and lighting to create a comfortable environment. Oversee inventory orders and maintain par levels for supplies, ingredients, and retail stock. Minimize waste through effective inventory management. Process merchandise returns and ensure proper vendor credits. Adhere to all health department rules and regulations to ensure a safe environment. Managerial Leadership & Team Accountability Serve as the voice of White Rock Coffee, handling customer incidents and involving management when needed. Make responsible security and safety decisions, completing incident reports as necessary. Identify and mentor potential leaders, supporting their growth and development. Assist in training and developing Shift Leads. Monitor labor costs and adjust schedules as needed, stepping in to cover shifts when necessary. Partner with HR in team member discipline and recognize outstanding performance. Enforce company policies, including dress code and professional conduct standards. Foster a positive work culture aligned with White Rock Coffee's mission and core values. Personal Responsibility & Accountability Contribute to a positive work environment by embracing change and growth opportunities. Maintain professional workplace behavior and open communication with colleagues and management. Be punctual and follow procedures for shift coverage when necessary. Take initiative in job duties without requiring constant direction. Stay updated through team communications and company announcements via Teams. Follow all policies in the White Rock Coffee Handbook, including appearance and hygiene standards. Efficiently multi-task and manage time effectively. Assist in training and developing new baristas. Take ownership of work quality and correct any mistakes proactively.
Additional Shop Lead Responsibilities :
Communication Keep staff informed of company news, events, and promotions. Stay up to date with internal communications and announcements. Schedule and lead routine leadership meetings. Participate in monthly leadership meetings. Marketing & Promotion Collaborate with the Creative Team to develop and implement marketing initiatives. Ensure signage is updated frequently to reflect promotions. Maintain an appealing and well-stocked retail area. Ensure accuracy in pricing, menu boards, and promotional signage. Additional Requirements Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Basic math skills, including the ability to add and subtract without a calculator and make correct change.
