Houston, Texas Build Something Bigger Than a Restaurant Chainsmoker BBQ is a halal smokehouse restaurant and the first U.S. location of an established international restaurant concept. We are looking for an experienced General Manager who wants more than just another management job. We're looking for a leader who wants the opportunity to help build a brand, develop a team, and grow alongside ownership that believes in creating opportunity for hardworking people. This is a ground-floor opportunity. Our vision is to build multiple Chainsmoker BBQ locations throughout the Houston market, and we're looking for a General Manager who wants to help build that future from the beginning. The right candidate will work directly with ownership, have a meaningful voice in the operation, and play a key role in establishing Chainsmoker BBQ within the Houston market. We're looking for a leader who is willing to roll up their sleeves, work alongside the team, and take ownership of the restaurant's success. Leadership at Chainsmoker BBQ means leading by example. No task is beneath the General Manager. Whether it's helping guests, supporting the kitchen, unloading deliveries, washing dishes, coaching team members, or solving operational challenges, our leaders step in wherever needed. The successful candidate understands that great restaurants are built through consistency, accountability, teamwork, and attention to detail. Primary Responsibilities Oversee all day-to-day restaurant operations Manage labor costs, food costs, inventory, purchasing, and profitability Recruit, hire, train, coach, schedule, and develop team members Build and maintain a positive, high-performing culture Ensure proper staffing levels and shift coverage Maintain food quality, consistency, presentation, and guest satisfaction standards Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, health, and halal operational standards Manage inventory, ordering, receiving, and vendor relationships Execute and oversee opening and closing procedures Resolve guest concerns professionally and effectively Maintain facility cleanliness, organization, and operational excellence Establish systems, accountability measures, and performance standards Prepare operational reports and communicate performance to ownership Protect company assets and uphold company standards at all times Hands-On Leadership The General Manager must be willing and capable of performing any role within the restaurant when business needs require.
This includes:
Guest service and hospitality Cash handling and POS operations Food preparation and line execution Supervising and participating in meat preparation and production Expediting and quality control Inventory management and receiving deliveries Dishwashing and sanitation Cleaning dining room, kitchen, storage, and washroom areas Opening, closing, and shift coverage What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is: Honest, trustworthy, and dependable A strong communicator and team builder Accountable and solutions-oriented Comfortable leading in a fast-paced environment Highly organized and detail-oriented Growth-minded and eager to learn Committed to maintaining high standards Passionate about creating exceptional guest experiences We are looking for someone who treats the business as if it were their own. Qualifications Minimum 3 years of restaurant management experience with direct operational responsibility Current Food Manager Certification required Proven experience managing labor, food costs, inventory, staffing, and daily restaurant operations Experience hiring, training, coaching, and developing employees Strong understanding of front-of-house and back-of-house operations Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to maintain accountability and performance standards Respect for and willingness to uphold halal food handling and operational standards Previous barbecue or smokehouse experience is considered an asset but is not required. We can teach recipes, preparation methods, smokehouse procedures, and operating systems. Leadership, character, accountability, and restaurant management experience are far more important.
