General Management Employment Type:
 Full-Time (Hourly + Managerial Responsibilities) Job Summary The Bar Manager at MD Fine Wines (located within MD Brewery) is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a beer and wine-focused bar, ensuring high standards in service, product quality, inventory control, and team performance. This role combines hands-on bar service with administrative and operational responsibilities, including staff supervision, inventory management, supplier coordination, and system usage (Toast POS and xtraCHEF). The Bar Manager plays a key role in maintaining profitability, preventing inventory loss, and driving continuous improvement through promotions, product knowledge, and guest experience. Key Responsibilities Bar Operations & Service Lead daily bar operations, ensuring efficient and high-quality service. Work active shifts behind the bar, preparing and serving: Draft beers (10 taps), Bottled and canned beers (~30 labels), Wines by varietal (~8 options), Wine-based beverages prepared in-house Ensure proper beer handling, pouring standards, and wine service. Maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness of the bar at all times. Team Leadership & Staff Management Supervise and support a team of 2 bar employees. Schedule shifts, monitor attendance, and ensure accountability. Train staff on service standards, product knowledge, and procedures. Provide ongoing coaching to improve performance and consistency. Inventory Management & Cost Control Maintain strict control of bar inventory to prevent loss, waste, or misuse. Perform regular inventory counts (daily/weekly as needed). Establish and maintain par levels for all products. Place and coordinate orders with suppliers based on inventory needs. Monitor usage trends and identify discrepancies or irregularities. Ensure accurate inventory reporting using xtraCHEF. Systems & Administrative Responsibilities Operate and manage Toast POS, including: Menu updates, Item availability (86s), Sales tracking Utilize xtraCHEF for: Inventory tracking, Cost control, Invoice management Review sales and inventory reports to support decision-making. Maintain organized records of orders, invoices, and stock levels. Product Knowledge & Development Maintain strong knowledge of: Commercial and craft beers, Wine varietals and basic wine service Develop and propose: Promotions, Specials, New beverage ideas (especially wine-based drinks) Support pairing suggestions and guest recommendations. Guest Experience Ensure a welcoming, knowledgeable, and engaging bar environment. Interact with guests and provide recommendations confidently. Handle guest feedback or complaints professionally. Growth & Continuous Improvement Demonstrate initiative in improving bar operations and service. Identify opportunities to increase sales and efficiency. Show interest in long-term growth within the company. Participate in ongoing training related to beverages, service, and operations. Job Requirements Minimum 5-7 years of experience in bar service, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or management role. Strong knowledge of beer (commercial and craft) and basic wine service. Experience in inventory management and supplier coordination. Familiarity with Toast POS and xtraCHEF (or similar systems). Proven ability to manage staff and maintain operational control. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and peak service hours. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Valid Food Handler Certification and TABC Certification.
