Job Description

Deli Assistant Manager Come join our team at one of the largest independent schools in the Puget Sound area. Founded in 1950, Bellevue Christian School (BCS) has a rich history of educating students from Preschool through High School on three campuses (Medina, Woodinville, and Clyde Hill). Combining the integration of faith and learning with researched-based teaching methods, BCS prepares young people to live faithfully for God in a rapidly changing world. Working Hours:
6.5 hours, 5 days a week, 185 days (During the school year)
Job Summary:
Responsible for assisting in the operation of the Deli. The Deli Assistant Manager is the secondary food services coordinator for the BCS Clyde Hill campus.
General Responsibilities:
The Deli Assistant Manager working in the Deli should model to students, colleagues, and the Bellevue Christian School community an attitude of Christ-like servanthood, cooperation, accuracy and accountability. He/she must be prepared to answer questions with a spirit of patience and honesty. Conflicts that arise are to be resolved through the Matthew 18 principle. Assisting the Deli Manager with maintaining fresh stock, preparing foods, arranging displays, interacting with customers, making sales, and resolving customer complaints. Assisting the Deli Manager with ensuring a sufficient supply of choices throughout the shift, using ovens, cutting tools, scales, packaging materials, and other deli equipment. Assisting the Deli Manager with training and supervision of student volunteers and Deli Assistants and providing evaluations for grade reporting when necessary. In the absence of a Deli Manager, The Deli Assistant Manager will research food providers in an effort to provide a variety of quality selections at a reasonable price if necessary. Responsible for daily/weekly menu selection as necessary. Purchase all Deli food and supplies using BCS credit card or purchase order process if Deli Manager is unavailable. Schedule vendor deliveries, receive supplies and store inventory if Deli Manger is unavailable. Always keep the deli/kitchen in clean and sanitary condition. Maintain a positive and friendly atmosphere in and around the Deli at all times. Maintain Deli equipment and train students and volunteers to safely operate equipment. Be a current Health Department card holder and train students and volunteers on proper food handling. Be the school's primary contact with the Health Department and ensure the deli consistently meets or exceeds all health and safety standards. Keep records of Deli volunteer hours. Process Deli requests, from filling orders to billing, to appropriate accounts if Deli Manger is unavailable. Handle all cash and check transactions and train Deli workers and volunteers on food sales and MealTime (software) operations. Prepare daily bank deposits and turn them in to the Finance office for banking.
Work Requirements:
Work is generally performed indoors, standing for long periods of time, and working with standard light industrial kitchen/restaurant equipment. Occasional bending may be needed.
