Job Description

We're looking for a motivated, friendly, and detail-oriented leader to oversee the daily operations of our deli department. As the Deli Manager, you will play a critical role in achieving departmental goals related to sales, profitability, food quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. This role is also responsible for developing a high-performing team, managing product preparation and inventory, and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment. Duties & Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management Lead, train, and develop a team of deli associates in line with company standards. Delegate tasks effectively to ensure smooth department operations. Create and manage weekly staff schedules within budgeted labor guidelines. Enforce company policies and foster a positive team environment. Operations & Inventory Management Order deli products based on sales trends, customer demand, and promotional schedules. Manage vendor relationships, including product quality and credit processing. Analyze sales data, waste reports, and seasonal trends to adjust production plans. Ensure accurate labeling, stock rotation, and compliance with food safety standards. Maintain clean, organized displays to maximize visual appeal and freshness. Customer Service Provide friendly, prompt service and assist customers with deli selections. Handle customer concerns and resolve issues professionally and efficiently. Take and fulfill custom orders accurately and on time. Food Preparation & Production Oversee the preparation of sandwiches, salads, platters, and other deli goods. Safely operate deli equipment including slicers, scales, and mixers. Ensure all food handling and sanitation practices meet health department regulations At least 18 years of age. Prior supervisory or management experience required (preferably in a food retail or deli/bakery environment). Strong leadership and team-building skills. Excellent communication and customer service abilities. Proficiency in basic computer applications (email, Excel, scheduling software). Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Comfortable using measuring tools and maintaining portion accuracy. Able to lift 20 lbs regularly and up to 40 lbs occasionally. Comfortable standing for extended periods and performing physical tasks. Able to read, write, and perform basic math functions. Work Conditions Work is performed in the deli, bakery, and backroom areas, including cold storage and prep kitchens. Exposure to varying temperatures and kitchen equipment. Frequent interaction with customers and team members. Physical tasks include lifting, reaching, stocking, and standing for extended periods.
