Position Overview:
We're looking for a
OPS MANAGER
to be the heart of our bakery, managing client communication, café operations, and beverage service. You'll ensure every client and guest has a warm, seamless experience—from custom orders and weddings to coffee and pastries in the shop. General Responsibilities Oversee the day-to-day operations of Baked Lab, ensuring smooth and efficient service across all business functions. Lead, train, coach, and evaluate front-of-house staff. Develop and maintain systems, procedures, and standards that support operational excellence. Manage staffing schedules and labor budgets. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate ordering for café, beverage, and retail operations. Ensure compliance with all health, safety, sanitation, and licensing requirements. Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and presentation of all customer-facing and back-of-house areas. Collaborate with ownership on strategic initiatives, business growth, and operational improvements. Assist with hiring, onboarding, and employee development. Analyze sales, labor, and operational performance metrics and implement improvements as needed. Client Management Deliver exceptional hospitality and ensure a welcoming guest experience. Address customer questions, concerns, and service recovery situations professionally and promptly. Build relationships with regular guests and foster a strong sense of community within the café Work with Administrative Assistant to manage special orders, catering inquiries, and event-related customer communications. Work with Administrative Assistant and Back of House to support wedding, cake, and specialty dessert inquiry workflows as assigned. Respond to customer feedback and identify opportunities to improve the guest experience. Represent Baked Lab's brand, values, and service standards in all customer interactions. Beverage Service Oversee daily coffee, espresso, tea, wine, beer, and specialty beverage operations. Ensure beverages are prepared and served consistently according to established recipes and standards. Train and mentor staff on beverage preparation, service techniques, and product knowledge. Monitor beverage inventory and coordinate ordering and vendor relationships. Maintain quality control standards for coffee, espresso, and beverage offerings. Ensure compliance with all alcohol service regulations and responsible serving practices. Assist in the development and implementation of seasonal beverage menus and promotions. Evaluate beverage program performance and recommend improvements to drive sales and guest satisfaction. Business Development & Community Engagement Identify opportunities to grow revenue through partnerships, events, catering, wholesale accounts, and community engagement initiatives. Develop and maintain relationships with local businesses, organizations, vendors, and community partners. Collaborate with ownership on marketing initiatives, promotions, and customer retention strategies. Support the planning and execution of special events, workshops, tastings, and community programming. Identify opportunities to improve brand awareness and increase customer traffic. Assist in evaluating new products, services, and operational opportunities that align with Baked Lab's mission and business goals. Help cultivate wholesale, corporate gifting, and catering relationships.
Qualifications:
Experience working in a coffee shop, restaurant, or cafe environment Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Comfortable working with clients in a professional yet warm, approachable way Experience with invoicing or order management is a plus Passion for baking, hospitality, or creative experiences is a bonus Ability to work independently and as part of a small, dynamic team
