Job Description

Hey! Want to run a BBQ restaurant and have a blast doing it? Contrary to popular belief, the food doesn't make the restaurant. Of course, the food matters, but only to a certain degree. Service, venue, and "vibe" are the makers and breakers and that's where you come in. We're the Oakwood BBQ Company . If you can hustle through a sold‑out Saturday, charm a wedding client, and still high‑five the crew afterward, you'll fit right in. Overview We're a serious restaurant that doesn't take itself too seriously. We cook great food, pour thoughtful drinks, run a busy catering program, and care about creating a safe, fun place for our team to learn and grow. We're hiring a General Manager to run a high‑volume location, own the front‑of‑house, grow our catering business, and help build a team that's proud of the work they do. Key Responsibilities P&L Ownership — manage revenue, margins, forecasting, and budgeting for the restaurant and catering business. Catering Sales and Execution — develop proposals, negotiate contracts, coordinate logistics, manage off‑site delivery and on‑site events, and ensure accurate invoicing and timely collections. Bar Operations — oversee the bar program, inventory, ordering, cost controls, staff training, and compliance with alcohol regulations. Daily Restaurant Operations — set service standards, manage reservations and floor flow, and ensure smooth guest service. Team Leadership — recruit, train, schedule, and coach front‑of‑house staff; build and maintain a reliable pool of event staff; conduct performance reviews. Cost Control and Reporting — monitor food cost, beverage cost, labor cost, waste, and implement corrective actions; deliver weekly and monthly KPI reports. Guest and Client Relations — resolve guest issues and cultivate corporate and community accounts. Compliance and Safety — ensure health code, licensing, and safety standards are met; maintain required certifications. Qualifications Required Minimum 3 years of progressive restaurant leadership experience with at least 2 years in a managerial role . Proven experience managing a single unit with annual sales of $1,000,000 or more. Bar experience including inventory control, staff training, and alcohol compliance. Catering experience with responsibility for sales, contract management, and event execution. Event planning experience — ability to plan, price, staff, and execute private events and large off‑site functions. Social media experience — proven ability to manage or contribute to restaurant social channels, create promotional content, and drive local engagement. Strong financial skills : budgeting, forecasting, and margin management. Operational skills : scheduling, POS familiarity, and basic inventory awareness. People skills : hiring, coaching, conflict resolution, and building high‑performing teams.
Certifications:
ServSafe Manager or equivalent required; alcohol server certification preferred.
Availability:
flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and event hours, especially at the beginning. Preferred Culinary knowledge or kitchen experience to support menu planning and quality control. Cocktail and wine knowledge — comfortable with drink program basics and pairings. Experience with Toast POS system and familiarity with its reporting and catering order modules. Performance Metrics Sales targets for restaurant and catering revenue. Labor cost as a percentage of sales. Food and beverage cost percentages. Compensation and Benefits Highly competitive base salary based on experience, $55k - 75k. Performance bonus tied to sales and margin goals. Health insurance planned as a future benefit.
